Here is the error msg that TSM generates with a defective tape drive (or media) : Message ANR8778W Scratch volume 343UTLL3 changed to Private Status to prevent re-access. Tape robots are fast. Ours marked all 134 of our tapes as Private at a rate upwards of 5 per minute on a weekend overnight

Hello Roger, daily 1 full DB backup i am keeping . and delete volhistory is also done to get more scratch tapes. its a 3573 lto model library with 44 data slots. if i generate scratch with in couple of minutes the scratch tapes are using for db bc and comleting with failure. act log = >0
