Hi,
The following should work, on a Windows 2016 server:
dsmc restore backupset {"\\rcipserver\c$"}\* e:\rcip-c\
-backupsetname=RCIP-RETAIN-6-MONTH.777843459 -loc=server -subdir=yes
-virtualnode=rcipserver -password=*
substituted single quotation marks with double quotation marks
added -vi

Hi Bill,
Yes, TOC support for backup sets was first introduced in TSM version 5.4.
(It actually first appeared in TSM Express, and was subsequently made
available in the enterprise version in 5.4.)

So you need to start at file 4 to get rootvg files,
File 5 to get XXXvg
File 6 to get YYYvg

You have stacked files onto one tape. To restore the XXXvg use:
# mt -f /dev/rmt0.1 fsf 1; restorevgfiles -f /dev/rmt0.1
To restore the YYYvg use:
# mt -f /dev/rmt0.1 fsf 2; restorevgfiles -f /dev/rmt0.1

OK, is the "server" a client of a tsm server or is it the actual "tsm
server" ?
if it is just a different client node, just do a
dsmc -virtualnode=
and you may (if you know the other nodes password into the tsm server)
restore its backups to your current client box.

You can set a pit date then use the find option of the gui to only select
.exe's.

I had a similar issue last week. I needed to restore a file but the server

Hi,
As long as FRED does no new incremental backups, it's data doesn't expire.
Other machines can restore that data using the -virtualnode option to the tsm
client.

Hi
First of all, you'll have to temporary install a tsm client for node FRED.
This can be done on any machine. Second, you will have to grant access to
other nodes to access FRED:s data. Then you can open those nodes TSM
client, and select Access Another User. Type in FRED, and you'll be able to
Farren,
try

btw: be carefull not to loos your backupdata of FRED ( due to RETONLY

If you want the "latest" files restored then you want to use -latest instead of the
data parameters. You want to use -replace to overwrite without prompting.
To get all the details on restore, go to Tivoli website and then documentation
downloads and select the version of *SM you have and the
Yep... and we've seen this problem before. The Oracle file systems may need
to be "owned" by the Oracle dba-id; then, the file/directory permissions
can be set with user or group permissions that allow the same Ora dba-id to
read-write-execute. When this is the case, "root" cannot do backup/res

May be you can probe to change your dsm.sys file
Where you find
NODENAME machine_where_backup
change to
NODENAME machine_where_restore
For example, i want to restore files from node euler in node euler2, you
must add/change line NODENAME euler with line NODENAME euler2
Also, you must verify
The owner (but not someone with write permission) of a file has always been
able to restore the file using dsmc.
