All right, let me update everyone on our NSM Upgrade Experience. This one
was POSITIVE!!! Once we got past the bad media problem, the ECA-017
(EC-H27946a) upgrade of our 3466-C00 from AIX 4.3.3 and TSM 4.1.1.0 to AIX
5.1 and TSM 4.2.1.9 was well worth the effort.
First, a word about the bad

For us, the lock conflict exhibits itself during expiration, when it hits
some corruption in our DB. Systems that have time to run expiration,

As I understand, support for TSM 4.1 expires June 30, 2002. So if you want
to be supported, you have no choice but to upgrade to TSM 4.2

We are currently testing version 4.2.2.2. Of course this is done on a very
small basis so its hard to bump
The best result I heared so far was a customer who switched his RS/6000 in
the NSM with a windows 2000 server, and also used the SSA disks took same
time and less pain..

The corruption was in the DB before the upgrade.
There is a bad lock contention problem when running expiration with
4.2.

We too have been trying to implement EC017 on our NSM, and have had two
failed attempts at the upgrade. The upgrade to AIX 5 and TSM 4.2.1.9

Our NSM support contract calls for a CE onsite to do all upgrades of that
nature.
We went directly to 4.2.20 and AIX 5.1 with EC 17.
Aside from that, immediately after the upgrade, apply OS patch 5100-02
immediately.
It's a big one, 600+ MB.
