you should do a restore storagepool to recreate the volume from the
copypool. TSM will them backup any that were not restored on the next
backup.

Hi Laura,
It is more helpful when making technical inquiries to include all the
specific information about your problem, including the full text of the
message you are receiving. :-)
In this case, I am guessing that you are receiving message ANR1425W. If
so, the information for this message that
o a "delete vol
discardd=yes" and then change it to readwrite.

We don't know the nature of that damage, but it's worth reminding
3590 customers that tapes can sometimes be repaired, if the damage
was to the leading end of the tape: in this case,
First, I would go back through the log during the restore process and see why files
couldn't be restored.
I have had to do the restore twice sometimes. For some reason, the first preview=yes
doesn't call for all the offsite volumes it needs.

Just list the contents of the "destroyed" tape:
q content vv
Everything that is left on vv, are files that could not be recreated
elsewhere by the RESTORE VOLUME.
