Can anyone give me a ballpark cost of IBM's ADSM Server v. 5, for AIX
4.3.3? We are part of the U of I, so we would get an educational discount.
We also already have ADSM server 3.1, so we would probably get an upgrade
discount as well. But all I'm looking for is a ballpark number. I

We did a simple cpu/disk upgrade during first shift. The libary was the same,
and we moved from nt4 running on a Dell 6100 (dual 200Mhz) to a Dell 2400 also
a dual cpu running w2k.
After the last of the night's backup finished we
copyed all the primary data to the offsite pool.
Migrated all data
successfully, but we only had 23 clients.

Hi Bruno...
A few things...
1) Upgrade immediately, if not sooner. ADSM (version 3.1) is very old and
is unsupported, and if you encounter problems, you'll need to call on a
highly paid consultant who remembers all the sillyness that came along with
3.1. If you're running 3.7 or higher (when

Thanks. Danny Miles sent me a message yesterday suggesting the same
thing; indeed, it was the recovery log filling up that caused the crash.
The database was not backing up due to the fact that it could not find a
scratch tape; although there were scratch tapes labelled in ADSM, the
3590 library
AIX window, and you will see the error messages it issues as it
tries to come up.
Report those back to us, they are usually helpful...
