You can also try using FORCE=YES at the end of the command to force TSM to delete a
backup if you know they exist. This is undocument option in our version of TSM,
doesn't mention anything of it when doing a H DEL VOLH but it does work. Comes in
handy when trying to delete that solitary pesky DB
we'll be upgrading to 5.2.3 hopefully but as we also did a server move as
well, we did the upgrade in two stages. I've written up some detailed instructions on
the steps I did, I can give them to you if interested.

We are currently looking at making a slight change to the directory structure on our
main fileserver (win2000), primarly moving all our workgroup directories to the root
of the drive they are on (removal of two redundant parent folders). I can probably
already guess what the answer will be but I
upgrade later? I only want to do one upgrade
but can't find any information on the IBM support website.

his upgrade back in February which sounds similar to yours.

I'm thinking of now creating a second TSM instance and have that running exclusively
for our monthly backups to take the load off our day to day operations.

There is a command that TSM has which does all this for you. Look in the admin or
reference guide for the define dbbackuptrigger, that should do what you're after.

You have several different issues here to deal with. First and foremost
are you licensed to use DRM, it is a separate purchasable product. If
you are then I highly recommend that you configure it and use it to its
fullest.
