big discussion with Emulex and Mcdata. Those thing is new for them
too.
It looks interesting about what you said. IPs are different. What do you
mean "SAN TCPSERVERADDRESS", we have "TCPSERVERADDRESS
TSM_server_hostname_IP" in dsm.sys, "SAN TCPSERVERADDRESS" is anothe
rograms
such as SQL Server, Exchange, SAP - backup-archive clients are not
yet supported.

Hi all,
We are trying to develop SAN with 3494 libr. We have 7 ADSM servers with
3.1, 3.7 and 4.1 version. We have EMC/symmetricx and Mcdata/Concentrix
switch and Bridges. We have done the dump data from symmetrix disk to 3590E
tape drive through Concentrix switches and Mcdata bridges (FC-SCSI)
Blair,
We can restore 13GB in one hour for a fairly medium amount of medium size
file by using TSM. But not for a large amount of small files. Can you do
17GB/hr or what ever for a small file systems with ARCserver? What is your
wire--LAN or SCSI?
George
How so??
George
We have same problems. It took 6 hrs to restore 220MB with 300,000 small
files without DIRMC, with disk DIRMC it reduce to 3 hrs. However it is
still too slow. I did test for multi-session--multi drive, it dose not
improve much. As long as we use tape, multi session will be limited. Only

It is mean that you are not able to access the file or the tape. Audit the
tape will tell you what is going on, or query the tape which is getting
this errors. We had same errors before that was damaged files.

Hi, all
Is somebody know that client ADSM SQL agent 1.1.1 can backup to TSM 3.7.3
server?
George
choose "Configure a Defined Tape Drive" after "add a tape drive"
George
you can only restore Primary volume, not copy pool volume. In fact if you
deleted DR volume, the stgpool backup will backup it next day. However the
primary volume can be restore if you have DR copy. Just Do "restore
Vol_name" you will see the list of the DR tapes you need to bring back from
activ
yes in the very begining

I am doing the same thing now (Sungarde too).
But I am not restore AIX, because before we restore DB it is impossible
(except using other media or tar which required more daily operation).
1. install AIX
2. install library
2 install TSM
3 follow your DRMPLAN (Which is part of your DRM) copy Devc
do a Mc for DIRMC(when you do it , you want point the stg to a seperate
DIRpool), then in the client option file add "DIRMC ' the newMC name'".
Then do a test to see you have the dir backup to the dirpool or not.
Good luck
George
u r not using mtlib for sure.
do the new scratch tape checkin and db backup.
then use dsmlabel to deal with the scratch tape that is not accessible.
Good luck

I am sorry, I did not see you are using stk9710. I am using IBM 3494.
'mtlib' utility in AIX level is the tool, to check out you have it or not,
in AIX, type "mtlib -l" see what happen.
If you have that utility every thing is going to be fine. I used this
utility to fix the problem (I

Check your scr tape's cal. code. I just fix that problem, because some how

Hi all,
I am trying to cancel a process, it has been 15 hours, still pending. Is
some body know how to cancel it fast without halt the server. (I got 40
sessions waiting).
Thanks
George
combine "q content" and " show volumeusage" (can be a script) you can egrep
what ever you want
George
type "q content volume_name"
tape " help define devcalss" you can see ECARTDRIGE. Follow the syntax, it
will work.
