You need to mention the device class name while extract db and it will take scratch tape from library when you mention library device class extract db devc=LTO manifest= scratch=yes By Sarav +65-82284384 > On 2 Apr, 2014, at 7:15 am, Bill Boyer wrote: > > Anyone done a migration using tape

V5 to V6 upgrade using media

2014-04-01 Thread Bill Boyer
Anyone done a migration using tape media in a library? I have a customer on AIX using ab IBM 3584 library with LTO5 drives. This library is fibre attached and also zoned to the new Linux V6 server. I would like to use the media method and not the network with this hardware. Is that possible? Anyone

V5.5.7.0 on AIX converting over the network to V6.3.4.0 on Linux RedHat. The V5 DB is 260GB at 90%. The TSM DB is defined on 4x100GB file systems /tsmdb01 - /tsmdb04. Active log is 32GB and archive log file system is 200GB. The extractdb phase seems to complete successfully: ANR0409I Session

Thanks for the reply. We aren't using ldap at all so I don't think that is the cause. John Frank Fegert Mon, 31 Mar 2014 13:20:38 -0700

Arnaud, The extra quotes around the log file name are only needed if you are running the command from a script or AIX command line. Below I've used your define schedule command on my TSM server. It fails only because I don't have a domain named AIX. [p7tsm:myid] /home/myhome #dsmadmc -id=x -

It worked in the macro because you didn't include the single quotes. If you'd left them out in the first try below, it should have worked, too. (It didn't work with the single quotes because the client was trying to run a file named "/tmp/test.sh >/tmp/test.log.`date +%d.%m.%Y` 2>&1", not a file

Dave, Thanks a lot for both explanations and example. Using these, I've finally been able to get the command accepted by the server : tsm: TSM1_XX>def sched aix test_sched act=command objects="'/tmp/test.sh >/tmp/test.log.`date +%d.%m.%Y` 2>&1'" durunits=minutes duration=10 startt=10:30

Rick, Thanks a lot for your feedback. Unfortunately, your solution does not seem to be working : >def sched aix test_sched act=command objects='"/tmp/test.sh >>/tmp/test.log.`date '+%d.%m.%Y'` 2>&1"' durunits=minutes duration=10 >startt=22:00 peru=o priority=1 ANR2004E Missing value for keyw
