Yes, the TSM server will be configured to talk to the Library Manager of
the 3584
Java.
It's evil.
The admin center command line pop up is a java thing.
If somebody pushed out java patches, that will do it.
And yes, with IE8 it's slow as dirt.

WOW - I haven't seen Firefox 3.anything for a long, long time (currently
version is 18). Maybe you should upgrade your Firefox and/or try Chrome?

Your going to miss some aspects of your 3494 . . . .
Here's how I understand things.
The 3584 library is a SCSI library. As tape libraries began to multiply
there was a need to make access to them easier. It made no sense to have
every tape library vendor create a unique interface, which every
I'm back to fighting my access to Admin Center with a browser.
Last week, my Firefox 3.6.24 worked just fine to login and open a "command
line" with a TSM server.
This morning, issuing a command on the command line starts a scrolling bar,
with the "stop" button. The stop button appears dead,

yes, there is an IP interface (or usually even multiple for GUI and 'CLI'
Why? Because its different than a 3494. It uses IP to provide a web pages for
managing the library. It uses fibre channel to communicate with the host about
tape mounts/dismounts as well as actual data movement.

The 3584 can use a FC interface to control the library, saving the need for an
extra network path between your TSM server and the 3584 library. You will
still likely want a network interface to the library so that you can access it
via the admin interface. The FC interface just uses one of the

Are the drives still separate when it comes to paths (other than being
defined as part of a library)? Is the fibre connection to t

Hi Rich,
We have three sites with GPFS and where two of them are we backing up the

It seems to be OK but we had an issue where GPFS TSM database got corrupted
