I have tried both ext2 and ext3. Both seem to exhibit the same issue.
There is nothing in either the dmesg or /var/log/messages that seems to
relate at all.
This is from the filesystem in question:

behind at 5.5 or even 5.4.

understanding.
Earlier version of TSM is only supporting the old VCB backup and not
vStorage/VADP.
