Hi Chel!
I sent the info. to [EMAIL PROTECTED], but I'm not sure where to
find the EDT diagnostics log. You should have all of the other info.

Joni,
Are you using any sort of volume access control on ACSLS?
Since you haven't attempted to remove the volumes from the
library, the next most common cause would be that access
to the volumes has been denied to EDT by ACSLS. It's also
possible that there's something else going on, but I wou
Hi Gerald,
The tapes are in slots within the library and are not currently in drives.
We ran an ACSLS audit to clean up any discrepancies. I've also found
some more interesting information. It looks like at 2:02 AM this tape
dismounted from the drive. Then at 2:30AM a request came in to mount

The first thing I would check is that the tapes are not still in the drives
via ACSLS command 'q dr all' and 'q vol '.
The 'q vol' will give you the status and location of the volume.
When you say you ran an audit, was it an ACSLS audit or a TSM audit?
We've had problems where the drive never ac
Hi Kelly,
Thanks for the suggestion, but this is an externally managed library and I
do not check the tapes into TSM. They are all managed by a pool within
the library and that pool is defined to the Gresham EDT software which
sits between TSM & ACSLS/SL8500 library. : )

Try auditing the library with the following three commands:
Audit library libname checklabel=barcode
Checkin libvol libname search=yes checklabel=barcode status=scratch
Checkin libvol libname search=yes checklabel=barcode status=private
These three commands will rationalize the library inventory
Our general rule here is each node gets its own policy domain, that way I
rarely have to deal with any includes for management classes.

Okay I can see how that would help keep tabs on whats going where.
Though it does seem odd that you would need more than a handful of retentions
especially defaults.

Backint/Brbackup usually run under an application userid ( e.g. oracle)
Check the ulimit settings for the user id.

I think "best practice" is whatever gives you the most control and
consistent results, and it will vary depending on your site conditions.
It is extremely difficult to figure out after the fact (say 2 years from
now), what data is bound to what management classes, if you have a lot of
them, and if
I would recommend open ticket with TSM support. This needs more digging.
Good luck

Hi Anil,
No, there were no checkouts being done against this tape or any of the
others that I have seen experience this error. I have narrowed it down to
6 tape drives within the library, most of which are happening on 3. As
you see below the tape is mounted/dismounted ok and then several hrs.

it should never expire as it would be covered by the versions data exists.

In old versions of TSM we have this command "webauthtimeout" for
websessions on ISC.
Now we use ISC 6.0.1.1 and Administration Center 5.5.0.0, TSM 5.5
I can't find appropriate command for this action in current version.
Please help change timeout for websessions in ISC!!!
