You said is a W2003 server. What are the details of it?
CPU, memory, etc. Maybe that is problem? Or is their
restore time including not just the DB restore, but
all the "prep" work, etc. involved in the restore?

They are actually restoring from a fileclass backup of the TSM DB. I know
when they told me these times I found them hard to believe as well.

HI Steve,
Thx for the response..
But I have one small query..
If I m taking the system backup on tape library using TSM for sysback then
at the time of recovery, it requires a NIM server or without that also we
can recover.

I agree.
Just use the AIX install cd/dvd and follow the
instructions to reload via sysback.
We use a cronjob to backup our machines
via sysback on a weekly basis. Then use the client to
backup data daily.

Sysback works great and is cheap, too! Not only can you create backups
and boot and restore from standalone media, but it also integrates
with your NIM server. And if THAT's not enough for a posting on a TSM
listserv, you can send your sysback backups to TSM to store, and
restore from there, too.
HI All,
Any one has tried the TSM for sys-back on AIX.. whats the recovery method
of this...
Any help will be appreciated
Thanks,
Sachin
