Hi
Tnx's for information. So what size should a standalone server (VmWare
server slice) be?? Based upon the below comment (resource hog), i.e.
1-1.4GHZ proc minimum and 1GB memory minimum is not enough, what size
should it be??

I already have mine running on VmWare instance for several months, no
issues.
(Other than the fact it is SLOW as some have seen on standalone
servers!
We had that and I can say no difference in performance.)

Yet another follow-up to this. A manual backup of the specific file

Great discussion.
One thing that some people have a hard time comprehending with TSM is that
its not like other backup solutions like Veritas that can tell you a yes or
no answer and have it be accurate. The fact that TSM is a living system and
that the backups may run throughout a 24 hr period,
Depending on your hardware setup for the VMWare environment that could be
very beneficial. Seperating the new admin console is a big plus since in my
experience, it has been a resource hog. You actually have me interested in
trying the same thing. I think I'll be asking our guys to do the same.
Three seasoned TSM support individuals will be responding to questions the

TDP for Oracle and how it is configured and administered. Some topics submitted

Hi Peter,
Your last question is probably solved by using the "NWEXITNLMP NO" option in
your DSM.opt files. That means you don't have to press a key to make the TSM
client close.
I can't help too much with cluster backups using "dsmc sched" because we use
DSMCAD. It's been very stable for us. H
Yes, it frequently takes some work to customize the report.
But if customized properly, it won't be that large, even for 100
clients, to go through reliably.
Strategies my customers have used.

Hi,
The -optfile parm isn't working because the .opt is already read by the
scheduler when it started. To work around this, you could make a
batch/command file, with dsmc I -optfile=xxx and start this with a imm.

Hi,
does someone know where I can find good information on backups for novell

We have three clusternodes with each 4 volumes. How can I configure this

"run q_columns TABLE" as in "run q_columns actlog" shows you all the
variables that are available in a given table. So the select you want,
without any special formatting added, is "tsm: ULTSM>Select date_time,

I want to select only a subset of messages from the activity log table.
For instance,

Just looking for some syntax help. Don't currently have a good sql
manual.
Tia for any help.

Hi,
you have not told the type of TSM-server you are using, but I guess it
maybe is AIX since you already have purchased the disk system from IBM.
If you use another OS, ignore the rest of this e-mail as other methods
for spreading IO apply(methods I know little about).
However, for AIX you can e
