Hello,
just look at the example init script /etc/init.d/skeleton.
Copy it to /etc/init.d/tsm_sched
Edit it (you only need the start and stop section) it's really
easy...
And then use "chkconfig tsm_shed on" to activate it. Then the

After 13 years, we're looking to replace our TSM/VM servers (not by choice,
but we've fought that battle with Tivoli and are finally conceding defeat).
TSM on z/OS is one possible alternative, but we only have access to virtual
tape (STK's flavor) on that platform.
TSM on VM currently runs with ST
We have servergraph,,,I'll look at doing that and having it notify us.
Thanks for all the helpful suggestions,,

We are trying to find out why a large restore takes as long as it
does. One of the main suspects is time spent on tape movement. The
SHARE presentation 'Finding Performance Bottlenecks in Your Tivoli
Storage Manager Environment' has a screen shot showing the use of
the tdpvr command to analyze PVR
3590 drives? That's the last one I recall using pneumatics.

Servergraph/TSM, http://www.servergraph.com, can send alert emails based on any
message that appears in the TSM log. That's how we get notified that a drive
is having a problem.

Hi,
I have noticed a lot of strangeness about the collocgroup table in sql.
Consider these 2 queries -

Hi,
I can think of 2 ways around this -
1. install 5.3 (at level 5.3.1.13 to avoid a bad bug). I have done this
And collocation groups work great, the feature is a great solution to this
problem.
2. When migration occurs, TSM selects the volume currently used by the node.

I gotta ask: what kind of tape library uses a vacuum to pull the
cartridges into the drives?

Hi Tae,
I install multiple copies of the software for the reasons you listed.
But I am running on Solaris and the needed tweaks to the process aren't that
hard.
I don't know what is involved with tweaking the install on aix.
I have been doing this for 2+ years and installed versions 5.1, 5.2 and
I am new to this list and to TSM.
I just installed TSM on SUSE9 running under z/VM 510.
How do I add the TSM scheduler to one of the run levels so that it starts
whenever we reboot the system.
Is there a script - do not find one in the install doc.
Thanks
Peter.
That was it!!! Thanks for your suggestions!

Patricia,
This may be due to a corrupted log file, domdsm.log.
DP for Domino 5.1.5.1 failed if for some reason the log contain invalid
entries (ex, output of a command is redirected to the log).
Try renaming the domdsm.log file, so that a new one is created.

There isn't, but if you use the hourly monitor facility from TSM's
Operational Reporter, one of the statuses it looks for by default is
offline drives. Since hourly monitor reports can be emailed, the balance
of the task is easily left to the student.

We are preparing to run a test restore of a client file system with
