We've been running TSM Server 5.1.6.5 on AIX 5.2 for some time. No
particular problems, despite the warning in the AIX 5.2 Install Guide. I
think that warning applies to some kind of trial version of TSM that is
in the AIX 5.2 bonus pack, not to the full licensed version. That
warning has puzzled m

Hi all,
I'm wrestling with client option set management in a distributed TSM environment.
I currently have one TSM instance and manage option sets by nested macros, with
changes to the options file where the difference is unique to this server.
e.g.
nt_common_cloptset.mac :

Can anyone tell me how they defined their sequential FILE devclass and
how the underlying hardware is setup? It seems like the best way to do
this is to have multiple physical disks and spread the TSM volumes
across the disks in a way to encourage spreading the i/o across the
spindles. But becaus
V5.2.3 is a maintenance level to Tivoli. V5.2.3.X is a patch level. It is far better
to go forward with a maintenance level because it has been fully tested. Patches are
tested but not to the extent that a maintenance level is.
So they are correct that you should be at a maintenance level but

Hi,
Is there any one running TSM server 5.1.5.0 on AIX 5.2 . I didn't get any problems
with tsm clients 5.1.5.0 with version on AIX 5.2 . Please share your ideas on this

Sal,
The level of granularity for Exchange backups is at the
Storage Group level. That means you can run backups
of separate Storage Groups simultaneously.
For example:
start tdpexcc backup SG1 full
start tdpexcc backup SG2 full
start tdpexcc backup SG3 full
start tdpexcc backup SG4 fu

Del,
Can you run multi-session Exchange backups?
Do you just start multiple full backups?
We have a 23GB Exchange Server
Bill,
Microsoft SQL Server allows you to have multiple "named"
instances of the SQL Server running at the same time on
the same machine. Each "instance" has its own set
of system and user databases. Each "instance" is identified
by a unique name.
Logically, you can think of each SQL Server "insta
Del,
Yes I did see that, but it is very vague as to what needs to be
performed on each node of the cluster. In previous versions it gave a
step by step process and there were also the redbooks to use as
reference. This offers virtually no assistance at all.

Data Protection for Exchange will only create one session
for each instance that you run. If there is an error
during a backup, it will retry up to a maximum of 4 attempts.
There must be something else going on here.
I suggest calling IBM support.

H... what version of the book are you looking it?
In the 5.2.1 version of the Data Protection for Exchange User's Guide

There is a section titled:

I have a problem with an NT Exchange server running TDP for Exchange. It is generating
