We've been running TSM Server 5.1.6.5 on AIX 5.2 for some time. No particular problems, despite the warning in the AIX 5.2 Install Guide. I think that warning applies to some kind of trial version of TSM that is in the AIX 5.2 bonus pack, not to the full licensed version. That warning has puzzled me ever since I first saw it and realized it applied to our configuration - which is running fine.
My only advice - apply the latest fix levels to both AIX and TSM - then go ahead and upgrade.
