Christian,
I did not understand your post; we are about to upgrade to 5.2.2.0 as well.
We have LTO1 drives in a 3583 library.
Which driver do you mean?
We are using the IBM Ultrium driver for the library and the drives on
5.1.6.2.

Greetings,
My thanks to this list for all their support over the years.
We just migrated our TSM server from AIX to a RedHat Linux server.
It is Enterprise kernel 2.4.9-e27smp, and TSM 5.2.2. Our tape library

Wanda,
Thanks very much for the suggestions. In answer to your questions:
1. I know I have compression operating on the drives because our average
tape capacity is 1.6 X uncompressed capacity on all three media.
2. Most of what we back up is server data; a little bit is OS, etc, but
not much.

Yes - I have the same problem. If I look in dsmsched.log there's no error, it just

anything in them either. Generally I stop the scheduler service and then tsmjbbd.exe

Tab,
I'm not sure this is an issue of TSM design - if your libraries are out of
capacity in terms of SLOTS, rather than throughput, you just have "too much"
data.
That either means you are
1) not compressing the data as much as you can, or
2) backing up things you don't need to
3) keeping data

I think you only see it if ASR is activated.
Keep in mind that backing up a Windows 2003 client upon a non-5.2 TSM server will
ensure that your system object backups will not restore properly. Thus, a complete

Yes, they can. You use the 3590 drive to remove the FMR formatting from

was great! However I am getting some weirdness when the incremental runs

I think the main reason for this freezing is two fold.
1. maxperm minperm is at the default setting of 75 25
2. Io pacing is turned off
quick win is lower maxperm to say 24 man min to 12
turning i/o pacing on will also help but wil lower perfomance sometimes.

Hi Andy!
Thank you for your reply!
I guess I will go for the option of sharing the same bus for SSA and SCSI,
except I will use the SCSI adapter with one SCSI chain. The double paired
SCSI adapter I will put in the FC adapter bus.
