problems. A few small things though. Everything between 5.1.0 and 5.1.5.4
seemed to have a very big CPU usage (and locking) problem with expiration

We do this on some of our larger TSM servers and it works fine, have been performing
full backups to tape and incrementals to one of our VTSs. Works fine and have
performed DB restores from these backups also.

I have a question on Incremental DB backups. If I take a full
backup to storage pool "A" one day can I take an Incremental backup to
storage pool "B" the next day or must the incremental backup go to the same
storage pool as the full backup?

Especially on UNIX, the client will write dsmsched.log into the current
directory, unless the full path is specified in the dsm.sys file.
So use FIND to look around and see if you have OTHER dsmsched.log files
being created in a directory you did not exp
I'm sure you've checked this, but I get tapes that go into readonly mode
when they get a write error. Most of the time, I can just make the tape
readwrite again, and it goes on it's merry way.

Hmmm... I don't know why you are having difficulty. I verified my
directions before I sent them, and they work fine. I also tried them from
home (to eliminate being on the IBM intranet as a factor) and they worked
fine.

This is a similar approach to what we use to capture a set of Exchange data.
We determine the primary volumes that the data is on that we need. Move
those volumes to a new primary pool. Copy that primary pool to a copy pool,
database snapshot, eject the copy pool tapes, delete the copy pool vol
