Hi
I just have one question for anyone who has set up management classes
for the Xopen API.
I need to know how to set this up and allowing ADSM to Automatically
expire the data when the expiration period has been
accomplished.

I will be out of the office from 11/19/2001 until 11/26/2001.
I will respond to your message when I return., In my absence forward all

We seem to be making skew points here. Let me try to explain.

It's not necessarily an error, per se. Rather, this message is issued
whenever the scheduler service is terminated. For example, stopping the
TSM scheduler service explicitly or implicitly (like when you shut down
the system for reboot) will cause this message to be written to the error
log. Unles
Hi Paul,
Thanks for letting me know about the doc. You are correct, we probably
will just correct the documentation, unless the way it is currently
working is truly wrong (which I doubt). The Admin Guide probably needs a
statement about checking the MODE, and that last statement you quoted in

Thanks to all who responded...
No one actually hit the target, I got several useful hints.
It turned out to be the Atape-driver that caused the problem.
After realizing that I was at AIX 4.3.3, and applying the latest driver,
everything works fine again.
Is the TDP/SQL meta data always retain on disk (i.e. Cache Migrated Files?:
Yes on the storage pool) ? If not, maybe thats the problem

Try changing a few tapes to READONLY and then doing a move data
to scratch tapes. If this works then you've got the problem I had
where the upgraded system sees all previous system tapes as incompatible
for writing but acceptable for readonly.

Well, sorry.. I was wrong in saying we were running 4.3.2.
I will check with our AIX-expert tomorrow, and have him go through the
system...
At least, my bos.rte is at 4.3.3.0, and, as you say, this is requiered for
tsm 4.2.x.
What confused me was the oslevel-command, which returns 4.3.1.0.. Som
The way I understand the licenses, you need either a Managed System for LAN
OR a Managed System for SAN license for each *Managed System* that you are
backing up (the SAN license permits you to backup files across the LAN).
Not for each node you register to TSM.
Assuming that only one of the clus
This might not be the case but also may be - you wrote AIX 4.3.2.
According to http://www.tivoli.com/support/storage_mgr/ad6serv.htm
you have to be at AIX 4.3.3 or later for TSM 4.2.x. I would even go to
4.3.3ML6 or ML8 for bos.?p and bos.rte.* !

Storage hierarchy works only on primary pools, i.e. you can "flush from
disk file to tape" only if both pools are primary.
When you create file volumes it is equivalent to losing you storage pool
backup. And TSM server recreates the files on next backup.
The only way (in current versions) is to ba

the current syntax.
