There is one benefit to backing up the system objects every night. Should you ever need to do a bare metal restore, the system objects will be cached on disk. Of course, all the other user files has been pushed out of the cache; but who cares if user restores require tape mounts.

Yes, that works, as far as it goes. You get a bootable system. But, if you do not restore your registry, you lose all your customization. And the doc says you should not restore registry without restoring the rest of the "system objects". There is a LOT of user customization for these WIn2K Pro

The UPGRADEDB parameter causes the server to update some of the database meta-data. It does not have to convert any database data. Because of this, it is not sensitive to the size of the actual database and should take seconds to execute regardless of the database size.
