I have installed a standalone DLT4000 drive onto our TSM server
for DB backup.
It is seen under AIX as /dev/rmt4 and can be manually tarred to/from.
Defining the library/drive/devclass for manual DLT was straightforward.
It labels tapes OK, but when
You know, after reading my posting I found the solution.
The device type of the drive is GENERICTAPE (generic AIX type),
but the device class I have created is DLT.
Defining a GENERICTAPE devclass then re-defining the drive with
the new devclass fixed the problem.
