Hi Wayne,
I know that this problem didn't exist in V3.7 or V4.1 since both were tested
and deployed.
Thanks.

No. When I put the tapes in the I/O station, the library puts them away,
but leaves them with the insert catagory (FF00).

You might have to add the devtype=3590 if you are using 3590 drives.

I've done this type of move before. It does work, just follow the AIX Install manual
on how to do. You definitely need the AIX CD that is at the SAME level as your
current machine. Also if you have applied any PTF's etc. you should reapply them on

My strategy is:
1. Build a database list from the files in the mysql data directory.
2. For each database run the command:

BackUpDir points to enough disk to hold the backups and DB is th

I remember reading that the mksysb from MCA to PCI machine will work,
however you must have the AIX cdrom in the drive during the restore so it
can grab some of the PCI lpp's that are necessary. I've never done it

Yo,
I've got a customer who wants to install this Retrospect product on an
NT 4 server that we're backing up with ADSM (3.1.2.50 on OS\390 2.6).
Anyone have any experience with comingling these two?
My info is RestroSpect (that cap S just feels right) is used to back up
desktop files to a server
I have one gotcha not related to *SM specifically. A few months ago we had a 32bit
AIX 4.3 system we did mksysb on and restored it on a 64 bit machine. The only problem
was if you are using NFS.
There is a known problem at IBM with this in that NFS won't work. You have to stop

Jie,
I really doubt that an MCA mksysb will restore properly on PCI machine. Also, it
shouldn't matter to an application whether the OS kernel is 32- or 64-bit.

We will get a new F80 server to replace our old MCA TSM server. The
F80 has 64-bit architecture and we would like to have a 64-bit kernel for
better performance. I am thinking (1) if cloning the MCA server to the F80
will work, (2) if we later enable 64-bit kernal, will it cause trouble on
Tnx.
DSMSERV AUDITDB FIX=YES solved the problem.

It sounds good to me altough I never tried it, just some considerations:
- You don't need change the CONFIG_FILE, just changing the BRBACKUP command
pointing to the new .bki file is enough.
- Beware of the Archive Retention Days in the Management Clasess you are
using, TSM honors them
We use Backint for daily backups and the profile has the MAX_VERSIONS set
to 15 and everyone is happy except now there is a requirement for one or
more specific backups to be archived.
I have checked files and manuals and have arrived at the following theory

As far as I know is a utility delivered with the 3493 library.
A library like a 3575 can be managed though tapeutil utility.
For the STK libraries, I think this can only be done via the ACSLS
driver
delivered with your library.
