After creating the .map file you have to compile it with teckit and .tec
file will be the output.
.tec file is a binary file. You have to keep this in appropriate directory
and then run mktexlsr.

After that you will tell XeTeX or XeLaTeX to use this .tec file. Then only
your devnagari document will convert in telugu script.

After creating map file you have to convert it into ,tec file using Teckit
(download it from Silmaris - XeTeX's site). Only map file can't do anything.

I don't really understand why this discussion.

Have not you read the article in TUG Boat. Don is planning to bring out a
new TeX called iTeX*. Actually the * is a sound of bell - ding!!

But it may not be free. But it can handle all types of output formats, all
languages etc. etc. Don presented this paper in TUG meeting last year -
because the TUG volume is a proceedings volume.

I think you are using the font created by Velthuse.

Try using some other font - Mangal or Chandas for example!

Re: [XeTeX] Off topic: Devanagari fonts

2012-01-03 Thread bhutex
Following Unicode free fonts are available for Hindi/Devnagari :

Akshar Unicode - not beautiful
Chandas - Full font, not only devnagari but all characters needed for
typesetting vedas etc.
Uttara - Probably a variant of Chandas
Nakula and Sahedava - Twin fonts
FreeSans - it has Devnagari but not fully working for example फ्र etc. are
not coming properly
Osha -
Guruma -
Siddhanta - It has variants like Siddhanta 1, Siddhanta 2, Chakravat,
Chakravat 2
Calcutta , Calcutta1, Calcutta 2, Vyakaran and Nepali
Sanskrit2003
AA-NagariShri

In addition some fonts are available on the Govt. of India's Ministry of
Information Technology website (around 50 fonts (including Bold, Italic,
Bold Italic)) fromC-DAC etc. organizations. But these fonts also have some
problem Just like FreeSans.

The fonts mentioned above (for dictionary type work) are sufficient. C-DAC
fonts are mostly decorative fonts.

Re: [XeTeX] FreeSerif not working for me in Devanagari

2012-09-06 Thread bhutex
The FreeSerif is not a complete font. The font tables for Devnagari are not
fully implemented in it.

But FreeSans has the necessary tables so it works. I also suggested some
corrections which were incorporated in to the FreeSans.

Re: [XeTeX] Fwd: Telugu typesetting

2013-06-22 Thread bhutex
Hmm!

I worked with XelaTex and Telugu on Windows platform long back - for
testing. There is no problem with pothana2000 font. It was alright. But
some other open type Telugu fonts didn't come out well - they are produced
by C-DAC.

Tikkana, Vemana are well supported.

I used telugu (input) - telugu (output).

Re: [XeTeX] Problems in Devanagari typing.

2013-11-24 Thread bhutex
If you see on XeTeX home page you can see my postings on Hindi and Telugu
languages.

The fonts developed by C-DAC and freely distributed by the Indian
Government are not properly made. There were several errors. I reported it
to the C-DAC as well as to the GoI - Indian Language Technology Development
groups. But there is no response. After some pestering C-DAC people said
their fonts are very good and advised me to use Windows Word. There the
matter stops.

I tried with Mangal and it is working fine. I have not yet tried the other
Windows fonts like Aparajita, Utsah, Kokila.

[XeTeX] Polyglossia error in Hindi

2018-03-16 Thread bhutex
Hello

There are some mistakes in the gloss-hindi.ldf for example

संदर्भ ग्रंथ has been coded as संदर ग्रंथ and पृष्ठ has been coded as पृषठ.

I am writing a book on LaTeX in hindi using XeLaTeX. So I am getting the
संदर ग्रंथ instead of संदर्भ ग्रंथ. I corrected them in gloss-hindi.ldf
still I am getting the error.

Please inform where/which file I have to correct so that I can get the
correct संदर्भ ग्रंथ in my book!

Till date what I wrote I kept it on Scribd - if any body wants to see the
book.

Thank you!
