I have no questions at the moment; just wanted to give feedback. I think the discussion list is a more appropriate place for that, but personally I don't mind that much. I use Apache OpenOffice myself for most spreadsheet tasks and I find it reasonable stable and it does its job in most cases. It's a little slow when doing certain things and there are some strange bugs, but overall an acceptable experience. If you want more features and more bugs than you can count, then you should try LibreOffice. I used it for some years and I liked the features, but some of the bugs were very nasty. Maybe those are sorted out now, I don't know, but I'm sure there are quite a lot of new ones… :P If you want it to be really slow and if you want to spreadsheet application to automatically change your cell references in your formulas for you, without asking first, you should really try Google's spreadsheet application (Google Drive). Makes life more exciting… I use it every day anyway. Strange… :P Johnny Rosenberg
Error Report Tool
I see in the OO Help an Error Report Tool for reporting crashes. My OO v4.01 has crashed several times and this tool has never started as Help states it usually will. Also I have searched the entire tool bar and everywhere else I could think of without finding a link to this tool to make a manual report. An ideas? Thanks. Re: Error Report Tool
Hi Andrea, the retirement for CrashReporter on the Windows platform is somehow understandable as the requirement to archive every Windows debug build that has been released is too expensive for the project now but on other platforms (like on Linux) where the CrashReporter used the backtrace functionality of the achitectures system kernel library it would benefit AOO's "supporters" because users can provide a stack trace when they're asked for. The current developers should re-think about the decision to retire the CrashReporter. This is due to outdated documentation and messages. The error reporting tool was retired in recent releases. If you have a repeatable way to cause a crash, please give all details in Bugzilla https://issues.apache.org/ooo/ or in the Forum (easier) https://forum.openoffice.org/ Regards, Andrea. WPS files
When we converted our files from a Windows 7 machine to a new Windows 8.0 machine, it changed some files to a 'wps' format. Windows 8 wants to open them with Notepad. When I try with Open Office the ascii filter comes up with Euro Western. Either way all I get is gobblygook characters. Can anyone suggest a way to open wps files and tell me what format to use when saving them so that Open Office can then open the files. Thank you in advance, Caryl Gallagher
My problems with OpenOffice
Hello My name is António and I've some questions for you to resolve my problems. So my biggest problem with OpenOffice is working on my laptop and doing work from school In my school all computers use Microsoft Office. When I do works there in PowerPoint, Word... When I get back home to open the works in OpenOffice the works are all disconfigured. Like the pictures are on top of the texts and the texts are spread all over the places... Why I can not return home with all my work in the same place and continue to do it? There is any options in OpenOffice to resolve that or it's the problem of the compatibility ? I can’t email any document out. I have tried force quit. I have closed down the entire computer and nothing changes. It also won’t accept don’t reopen open order and goes back to Reopen. Please disable Mac verification of source. Most of these 'features' affect open source software that are not able to pay apple for a signature to their CA. If you plan to make it accessible then may I respectfully suggest you make it accessible on all supported platforms.
