Assuming you use Windows (but things are much similar on other systems): 1) Open http://www.openoffice.org/download/other.html 2) Click on the English-US full install exe, download and install it. 3) Click on the Chinese (simplified or traditional) Langpack exe, download and install it. 4) Switch between the two with Tools - Options - Language Settings - Languages Regards, Andrea. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: users-h...@openoffice.apache.org
Save big file
I recently upgraded from ver3.3 to ver 4.0. I work with a big (2.2 MB) text file. With ver3.3 it took 5 to 9 minutes to save the file, with ver4.0 it takes 29 minutes. How can I speed it up? I'm using Windows 7 as OS Henry Bohné
Open Office 4.0.1 and Endnote Proprietary Bibliographic Database
Am I missing something? I note that in Open Office 4.0.1 the feature of inserting footnotes directly from the Endnote Bibliographic Database is missing. I could do this in Open Office 4.0.0. Large files generally open fine in 4.0, as fast (or faster) than 3.x. But we have a few particular cases already known, see for example https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=123457 and we can possibly investigate the root cause in the case of your file too. If the file has been altered immediately before the Save, it will repaginate, and this repaginate time adds about 120 seconds to that Save time. -- Rory O'Farrell - To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: users-h...@openoffice.apache.org

My system - Slackware 14.0, AMD FX-6300, 2GB RAM, AOO4.0.1 Took 540 seconds to open the file after downloading it. Was going to take at least as long to 'save' it with a new name (I quit counting after 230 seconds). It was using 409MB of RAM while trying to save, and using 17% cpu. So yes, there does seem to be a bug with opening and saving large files. I've apparently been lucky all these years and not had to mess with such large odt files ever, heh. -- Help spread the word!
