[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 376802] Re: memory leak in something
I have almost the same problem. Xorg eats a lot memory after some work with firefox and especially with ANSYS (OpenGL graphics, motif-based GUI for 3D modeling). It can consume more than 1 Gb memory and the memory is not released after closing all applications, xrestop shows no information. According to it memory consumption is about 10 Mb. I have NVIDIA 7300 GT with non-free driver, AMD64 version of Ubuntu 9.04 running on Athlon 64 X2 4400 with 2Gb of RAM. The bug is annoying because I have to restart Xorg every time I want to start calculation in ANSYS to free some memory (ANSYS consumes about 1 Gb itself plus Xorg with 1Gb and I have no memory left for calculations). -- memory leak in something https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/376802 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 376802] Re: memory leak in something
For me after updating NVIDIA driver from 180.44 to 185.18.14 it is even worse. Now Xorg eats up to 200 Mb of memory and all graphics become slow. I have to restart X every hour. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 755841] Re: [sandybridge] video tearing
The issue is still present in final Natty release with integrated i5-2500 video. A bit less but still exist. No strange messages in logs. You can see tearing in the upper third part of the screen at resolution 1920x1080. Intel drivers on Windows 7 give no tearing. I will try to test a new 2.15.0 driver from xorg-edgers/ppa and write about results. The things like this and "GPU Hang"make the system hardly usable on my configuration. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/755841 Title: [sandybridge] video tearing ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

The bug is present also with drivers 2.15.0 as well as without composite WM at all. I think video tearing on YouTube is not a driver issue. It happens with all drivers. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 755841] Re: [sandybridge] video tearing
Ok, I've got an explanation for this bug from developer. He said that "The ability to wait upon scanlines was apparently defeatured, or at least disappeared from the specs". It means that it will not be implemented at all. I spent two days looking into the specs and writing the code. Yes, Intel changed the mechanism of waiting for scan line window and vblank events. I wrote new implementation for SandyBridge. All I've got is periodical video hang up every several seconds. I continue to contact developer of this part and try to understand what I did wrong. The simple way to test for this bug is to start video and press PrintScreen on dynamic scene. You will see teared picture.
