[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1157614] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in WakeupHandler()
Where's the fun in succesful boots? Anyhow just append 'and started plymouth-splash' to the start on line in /etc/init/lightdm.conf, after the 'and started dbus' line. This should fix the race between plymouth show-splash and lightdm starting. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1157614 Title: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in WakeupHandler() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1157614/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 982889] Re: X trying to start before plymouth has finished using the drm driver
Wrong, in any case the race happens because plymouth-splash is racing against lightdm. if you add 'and started plymouth-splash' after the 'and dbus' line in /etc/init/lightdm.conf the race should be gone. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to libdrm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/982889 Title: X trying to start before plymouth has finished using the drm driver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libdrm/+bug/982889/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

This sounds related to the bug I'm experiencing: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1160151 At the moment, I am not able to use Ubuntu on the affected machine because of the continuous freezing. The reason I decided to chime in here is because of the reference to the transparency issue: I am using Docky, which uses transparency effects, and I have found this bug to be easily reproducible when Docky is activated with a mouse hover-over. I'm seeing a lot of recent posts on the /usr/share/apport/apport-gpu- error-intel.py issue on various forums on the Internet, including AskUbuntu, Ubuntu Forums, Ubuntu Answers, etc. - most within the past week. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1159255 Title: GPU freeze possibly caused by transparency effects? sandybridge-m-gt2 GPU lockup IPEHR: 0x41e8 IPEHR: 0x0b140001 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1159255/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1096155] Re: PowerMizer's performance level goes max to lv.2 from 4 possible on NVIDIA GTX series.
Vaclav Cermak (disnel) I think you don't have a problem. At my side I can disable optimus and then the problem goes away. With optimus disabled I can use all power levels with plugged charger, but not all with unpluged. If you think about it, it's actually nomral, because when you are on battery if you use full performance your battery will be drained maybe for less than an hour, which kiils the usage of the laptop. So I think that a restriction is put if the laptop is on battery then it forbids the higher levels. As for my problem when optimus is enabled I started to suspect that bumblebee is the one at fault. I'm not familiar with the structure of the software, but maybe bumblebee is lying the the laptop is always on battery, even when the charger is plugged in. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1096155 Title: PowerMizer's performance level goes max to lv.2 from 4 possible on NVIDIA GTX series. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1160271] [NEW] ThinkPad W510 with Nvidia FX 880 GT216 video card: **No** drivers work with 3.2.x or 3.5.x kernels
Public bug reported: Obviously an initialization bug on the kernel side, probably due to a quirky BIOS setup. Workaround is to use the old Linux 0.99 trick ... boot Windows and then soft boot Ubuntu, or downgrade all the way to 3.0.x kernel and Nvidia 10x driver. This chipset never had great support, but at least it worked in 2D before :) If you need this particular video card to test with, find me a cheap alternative that will fit my W510 and I'll mail it anywhere it the world where it is needed most (Nvidia, Canonical, Linus himself, etc.) for testing and development. Cheers Dave Oh and BTW your "select a package" doohickey is busted, so Xorg is getting first bite, please forward to kernel driver initialization gurus :) And yes I know what DDX is, or was :) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.10 Package: xorg 1:7.7+1ubuntu4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.5.0-26.42-generic 3.5.7.6 Uname: Linux 3.5.0-26-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia .proc.driver.nvidia.gpus.0: Error: [Errno 21] Is a directory: '/proc/driver/nvidia/gpus/0' .proc.driver.nvidia.registry: Binary: "" .proc.driver.nvidia.version: NVRM version: NVIDIA UNIX x86_64 Kernel Module 304.43 Sun Aug 19 20:14:03 PDT 2012 GCC version: gcc version 4.7.2 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.7.2-2ubuntu1) .tmp.unity.support.test.0: ApportVersion: 2.6.1-0ubuntu10 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: [core, bailer, detection, composite, opengl, compiztoolbox, imgjpeg, decor, gnomecompat, imgpng, screenshot, imgsvg, text, grid, regex, resize, switcher, move, snap, resizeinfo, workarounds, place, mousepoll, session, unitymtgrabhandles, vpswitch, scale, expo, wall, thumbnail, unityshell] CompositorRunning: compiz CurrentDmesg: [ 99.570251] NVRM: GPU at :01:00: GPU-7b6aee26-b572-1298-0373-cbd1bc2dd031 Date: Tue Mar 26 04:37:15 2013 DistUpgraded: 2013-01-15 13:33:31,434 DEBUG enabling apt cron job DistroCodename: quantal DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: nvidia-current, 304.43, 3.5.0-26-generic, x86_64: installed ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes, including running git bisection searches GraphicsCard: NVIDIA Corporation GT216 [Quadro FX 880M] [10de:0a3c] (rev a2) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:2145] InstallationDate: Installed on 2011-06-04 (660 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" - Release amd64 (20110427.1) JockeyStatus: kmod:nvidia_experimental_304 - Experimental NVIDIA binary Xorg driver, kernel module and VDPAU library (Proprietary, Disabled, Not in use) kmod:nvidia_experimental_310 - Experimental NVIDIA binary Xorg driver, kernel module and VDPAU library (Proprietary, Disabled, Not in use) kmod:nvidia_current - nvidia_current (Proprietary, Enabled, Not in use) kmod:nvidia_current_updates - NVIDIA binary Xorg driver, kernel module and VDPAU library (Proprietary, Disabled, Not in use) MachineType: LENOVO 43192PU MarkForUpload: True ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR= LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-3.5.0-26-generic root=UUID=d10d7067-d5a6-4356-a450-c00ea1aa0d22 ro recovery nomodeset SourcePackage: xorg Symptom: display UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to quantal on 2013-01-15 (69 days ago) XorgConf: Section "Device" Identifier "Default Device" Option "NoLogo""True" EndSection dmi.bios.date: 09/17/2010 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: 6NET73WW (1.33 ) dmi.board.name: 43192PU dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: Not Available dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Information dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: Not Available dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvr6NET73WW(1.33):bd09/17/2010:svnLENOVO:pn43192PU:pvrThinkPadW510:rvnLENOVO:rn43192PU:rvrNotAvailable:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrNotAvailable: dmi.product.name: 43192PU dmi.product.version: ThinkPad W510 dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO version.compiz: compiz 1:0.9.8.6-0ubuntu1 version.ia32-libs: ia32-libs N/A version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.39-0ubuntu1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 9.0.2-0ubuntu0.1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental N/A version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 9.0.2-0ubuntu0.1 version.nvidia-graphics-drivers: nvidia-graphics-drivers N/A version.xserver-xorg-core: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.13.0-0ubuntu6.1 version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.7.3-0ubuntu2 version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.99.99~git20120913.8637f772-0ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.20.9-0ubuntu2 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:1.0.2-0ubuntu3 ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug compiz-0.9 possible-manual-nvidia-install quantal resolution running-unity ubuntu -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1160271 Title: ThinkPad W510 with Nv

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1160440] [NEW] Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in DamageRegister()
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1123166 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1123166 Public bug reported: Release: Ubuntu 13.04 (Raring Ringtail) dailies. XOrg version: 1:7.7+1ubuntu4 Intel XOrg driver version: 2:2.21.5-0ubuntu1 ATI XOrg video driver version: 1:7.1.0-0ubuntu2 LightDM version: 1.5.1-0ubuntu2 At boot, my machine has an issue if there is a montor connected to the external VGA port at boot. The issue is infrequent. I am able to work around it by dropping to a TTY and starting LightDM manually through sudo su when I am given the "Unable to detect hardware" dialog, at which point, the machine works perfectly. Whilst the crash happened when trying to start LightDM, I believe (given the symptoms of the bug) that the issue resides in the X Server failing detection of the hardware and the activation of the relevant drivers, but the hardware works fine without the screen attached (aside from an ACPI BIOS bug from HP themselves regarding the backlight). My hardware is a HP TouchSmart tm2-2190sa laptop with a hybrid Intel/ATI graphics system, and the spec for the test machine is available on HP's website. Additional infomration on hardware/system config available at further request, I'm not so sure on what would be relevant, as graphics drivers are not my speciality. I will point out that my rc.local contains the command to disable the ATI chip with vgaswitcheroo, so I believe the issue resides in XOrg itself. Adding the kernel option i915.reset=0 has brought no improvement. I still have now several freezes once a day. *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1157649 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1157649 @Ubu4u: Yes, but this would not make any sense at all. The bug is known and there are already patches which fix the bug for raring. (See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video- intel/+bug/1157649/comments/15). You better stop opening bugreports for packages which do not cause this bug. Docky is only a victim. Use 3.5.0-25 (which works reliable) until a fixed kernel has been released. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1159255 Title: GPU freeze possibly caused by transparency effects? sandybridge-m-gt2 GPU lockup IPEHR: 0x41e8 IPEHR: 0x0b140001 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1159255/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
