[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1144232] Re: Chromium occasionally stops refreshing the window, with NVidia Graphics
** Description changed: Occasionally, when there are multiple programs open, the Chromium window stops refreshing. At this point we can not switch tabs, pages are frozen, the text does not scroll. Apparently the window is unresponsive, but when we minimize/maximize/restore the window, the image is correctly updated. For example, when the issue occurs, if another tab is clicked, no apparent effect occurs. If we click on a link on the page, the system will apparently not follow the link. But if we minimize/restore the window, the new page or the clicked tab is showed properly. Close other applications, maximize/minimize/restore/resize Chromium window, sometimes solves the problem. Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1134112] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in OsAbort()
Symptoms are the same as bug 982889. It happens like once every three/four boots and I have to restart lightdm manually. From time to time I also get the "X is running in low graphics mode" message (or something similar, I can't recall at the moment). Quite annoying. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1071288] Re: xrandr won't enable LVDS1 unless VGA1 is off
The earlier bugs are gnome specific. The last bug is bad client behaviour and arguably lack of atomic modesetting support. xrandr is reporting a true limitation of the device in that the LVDS can only be bound to one pipe, so if you bind VGA first to that pipe, then LVDS cannot be lit. This is reported to the client via the available CRTCs so again doesn't appear to be a driver bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1071288 Title: xrandr won't enable LVDS1 unless VGA1 is off To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1071288/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 964231] Re: System Stutter When HDMI Monitor Is Connected
Here's something: The stutter occurs when using HDMI with my primary monitor, but not with my HDTV. Monitor: Acer S231HLbid http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009255 TV: Samsung LN37A550 http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-LN37A550-37-Inch-1080p-HDTV/dp/B00141AZR2 The root cause must lay in the difference between these two products. There is no "stutter" with either product using Windows or Mac. So it's strictly a Ubuntu thing, rather than a flaw with the monitor's hardware. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 964231] Re: System Stutter When HDMI Monitor Is Connected
I've attached the manuals for the two displays. The relevant pages seem to be: Samsung Manual: p44 (labeled 42), discusses HDMI in CEA mode for 1080p Acer Manual: p12, standard timing table My best guess for what is happening is that Ubuntu's display output timing over HDMI is slightly out of sync with what the Acer monitor expects, and hence some kind of "re-sync" process is happening about once a second. Or the timing of the laptop's built-in display is slightly different than that of the external monitor, causing the noveau driver to freak out about once a second as it tries to reconcile this. In my Xorg log file, I see a lot of stuff like this: [ 1878.231] (II) intel(0): EDID vendor "LGD", prod id 489 [ 1878.231] (II) intel(0): Printing DDC gathered Modelines: [ 1878.231] (II) intel(0): Modeline "1920x1080"x0.0 138.50 1920 1968 2000 2080 1080 1083 1088 -hsync -vsync (66.6 kHz eP) [ 1879.796] (II) intel(0): Allocated new frame buffer 3840x1080 stride 15360, tiled [ 2099.091] (II) intel(0): EDID vendor "LGD", prod id 489 [ 2099.091] (II) intel(0): Printing DDC gathered Modelines: [ 2099.091] (II) intel(0): Modeline "1920x1080"x0.0 138.50 1920 1968 2000 2080 1080 1083 1088 -hsync -vsync (66.6 kHz eP) [ 2111.153] (II) intel(0): EDID vendor "LGD", prod id 489 [ 2111.153] (II) intel(0): Printing DDC gathered Modelines: [ 2111.154] (II) intel(0): Modeline "1920x1080"x0.0 138.50 1920 1968 2000 2080 1080 1083 1088 -hsync -vsync (66.6 kHz eP) [ 2124.123] (II) intel(0): EDID vendor "LGD", prod id 489 [ 2124.123] (II) intel(0): Printing DDC gathered Modelines: But if I look at the monitor's own menu, I see that the reported refresh rates are H:68KHz, V:60Hz The differences here seem like a likely culprit to me. ** Attachment added: "display_manuals.zip" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/964231/+attachment/3564050/+files/display_manuals.zip -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/964231 Title: System Stutter When HDMI Monitor Is Connected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/964231/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1112859] Re: Optoma HD20 projector recognized but no HDMI signal
The problem is this laptop uses optimus and the digital output connectors are only physically hooked up to the nvidia gpu while your internal display runs off of the intel gpu which is a combination that is not supported in linux yet. You may be able to force the system to only use the nvidia in the bios on your machine, a lot of systems like this have that option. Alternately you may be able to force the nvidia to be used by adding acpi_osi="!Windows 2009" to your kernel command line, that will force it into windows XP compatibility mode where optimus doesn't work. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1112859 Title: Optoma HD20 projector recognized but no HDMI signal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1112859/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
