[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 444674] Re: Mouse behaves strange on clicking in graphical environment

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 444674] Re: Mouse behaves strange on clicking in graphical environment
** Description changed: Binary package hint: xorg Since upgrading from Jaunty to Karmic, I'm experiencing a strange mouse behaviour. Mouse clicks are not always interpreted correctly. Most of the time, clicking once on application icons, links etc. seems to be interpreted as holding the left mouse button down to draw the icon link etc. to a new location. Same behaviour with window sliders. Clicking once, the mouse often seems to interprete one single click as "click and hold". As a consequence, the slider is moved on moving the mouse. To release the mouse from "click and hold" a right mouse click seems to help. + Often, it is also that trying to close an application highlights the "x" button on the title bar, but the click is not recognized. - Sometimes (about 50% of the time), the mouse seems to be working - normally. However, working with this malfunction is very annoying. + Sometimes (about 50% of the time), the mouse seems to be working normally. However, working with this malfunction is very annoying. + This behaviour is related to the trackpoint, only! [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 447892] [NEW] Freeze shortly after X startup on Intel i855
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel Summary: X server freezes shortly after startup. The problem is similar to several problems already reported with the intel driver, but opening a separate bug report (for the time being) since none of the existing entries quite matches my configuration. Feel free to mark it as duplicate if you think it is. System: Kubuntu 'Karmic', updated yesterday (2009-10-09). Buffer dump is attached. Description: The X server locks up shortly after it is started, no matter what I do. Usually this happens when the login procedure is just about finished, but I have also seen it after KDM waiting for some time for the login credentials. Mouse pointer remains functional, apart from that complete lock (esp. keyboard). Magic sys'req key still works, but when I try SReq-(R,E,I), KDM seems to try to restart X, resulting in a *really* complete lockup (even my ssh diagnostics session dies). Notes: I had the same problem with Jaunty, but there it helped forcing the driver to use XAA instead of EXA. The newer driver does not support that ('Option "AccelMethod" is not used'), and cannot be forced to disable acceleration either ('Option "NoAccel" is not used'). And thanks to the new near-magic auto detection scheme, it is not even trivial to fall back to the VESA driver... so Karmic is completely and utterly non- usable on that machine. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: i855 karmic -- Freeze shortly after X startup on Intel i855 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/447892 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 447912] [NEW] Wrong keyboard layout display for Austria
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xkeyboard-config Austrians and Germans have the same keyboards, however, you can only select "Germany" as keyboard layout setting. This doesn't bother me much, but in the new gdm it displays "Germany" as keyboard layout every time I boot the system. It's like displaying "Keyboard layout: US" to somebody from Great Britain all the time. Suggestion: Rename those keyboard layouts from "Germany*" to "German*" to have a more neutral effect. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 447181] Re: Video driver error: No kernel modesetting driver detected
I recommend installing a Karmic kernel (the one in the PPA is there just for build purposes). The warning "This is not a genuine Ubuntu package" is because the PPA packages are not official Ubuntu packages and are not officially supported. I think this is pretty clear from the PPA page. If you have enabled the PPA without reading the PPA page you should complain to the one who instructed you to add the PPA. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Tormod Volden (tormodvolden) -- Video driver error: No kernel modesetting driver detected https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/447181 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 373260] Re: ~/.Xmodmap gets loaded only by gdm (and not by kdm or startx)
It should be sourced in Kubuntu via /etc/X11/Xsession.d/80kubuntu- xmodmap (package kubuntu-default-settings), similar to /etc/X11/Xsession.d/80ubuntu-xmodmap.. wait.. /etc/X11/Xsession.d/80ubuntu-xmodmap is from kdebase-bin.. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 357284] Re: [i945GM] Kubuntu: Screen stays black on logout (UXA bug)
In Kubuntu Karmic Beta, UXA is enabled by default, right? (No xorg.conf, I am slightly confused). But there are these four lines in /var/log/Xorg.0.log: (II) UXA(0): Driver registered support for the following operations: (II) solid (II) copy (II) composite (RENDER acceleration) Bug changed a bit since my comment #10 on the same hardware (ThinkPad T61 with Intel 965GM Chipset). In Kubuntu Karmic Beta, I can see a mouse pointer on a black screen after logging out. This is new. The mouse pointer changes to an input cursor on some areas on the screen. Could be that these are the areas for username and password. Also new: It is possible to restart the XServer with Alt+Print+K. After that everything is ok. Third new thing: Switching user works without problems now. -- [i945GM] Kubuntu: Screen stays black on logout (UXA bug) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/357284 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
