Public bug reported: Binary package hint: samba-common Hello all I'm suggesting to add line 'read only = no' for Profiles share in default smb.conf file. Then the complete share def looked like ;[profiles] ; comment = Users profiles ; path = /home/samba/profiles ; guest ok = no ; browseable = no ; create mask = 0600 ; directory mask = 0700 ; read only = no The reason is simply I spent two days figuring out why my Samba PDC did not work. That line was missing. Not very clever, I know. (Profile share must be writable if used) Still I'd like to save others from the same error. Samba is working exactly as it is designed, by having the system level configuration file override any ephemeral shares created with the net command. I tried to reproduce this issue on Ubuntu 10.10, and it happened as mentioned above. Nautilus-share should warn the user that their share name conflicts with a system level share. As such, I'm reassigning this bug back to nautilus-share, and marking it as Confirmed. In fact, it appears it was already removed when apt got involved. There seems to be a missing log that would have been generated when the upgrade is done. Its non-trivial to reproduce this, as someone will have to install hardy, install samba on it, and then upgrade to lucid. RedScourge, can you provide any more artifacts before someone has to go through the effort of reproducing? Specifically can you state the exact steps you took to "Upgrade from Hardy to Lucid" ? Can you please verify that /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/reqtimeout.load points to a real file that loads that module? It should look something like this: LoadModule reqtimeout_module /usr/lib/apache2/modules/mod_reqtimeout.so And also check that /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/reqtimeout.conf has content in it to configure that module. If the .conf file is there, but the .load file is not, that is your problem. You will need to re-create the file in /etc/apache2/mods- available and then run 'sudo a2enmod reqtimeout'. A simpler solution, if you don't want request timeouts, is to just run 'sudo a2dismod reqtimeout'. As you can see, the share named "документы" (this is russian word
meaning "documents") gets lost when smbclient is being executed with "C"
locale resulting in totally incorrect output "Disk|Disk|documents|" - in
fact this should be two lines, one for "Disk|документы|" somehow mangled
to be ASCII-friendly, and another one for "Disk|documents|". Yes, this
is a bug in smbclient that should be reported at a separate bug report.
To workaround this bug one may always use UFT-8 locale when running
smbclient and optionally converting the output using something like "
iconv -f utf8 -t ascii -c | grep -v 'Disk||' ".
My approach was for to modify auto.smb/auto.cifs by adding 'export
