There are a lot of things that can go wrong during squid's postinstallation. Unfortunately it seems that we don't have the actual error messages that were printed out during the upgrade that might tell us why the post install script failed. I'm not sure this will help, but can you run 'apport-collect 659047' to add any files that might be squid-related to this report? Also, were you asked any configuration questions on upgrade?
