[Bug 651877] Re: package ibmasm-utils 3.0-1ubuntu9 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Looking at the powerpc linux-image package (the equivalent provide the ibmasm module on i386 and amd64 architectures) I can't find any support for ibmasm in the kernel, i.e. no module for this architecture. This would explain the error messages that you have seen during the installation of ibmasm-utils. The ibmasm module depends on a x86 architecture so is not supported by the kernel on powerpc. [Bug 643100] Re: Recent update broke dhcp
Till, do you have files in /etc/apt/sources.list.d? This is likely where the packages sources would come from. This bug comes from the fact that at some point (or maybe you still do) packages were installed from the ~network-manager team trunk PPA. The issue is in network-manager, not dhcp3, so I'm reassigning it as such. As for a quick fix, if you're on lucid try to do the following: sudo apt-get install network-manager=0.8-0ubuntu3 libnm- glib2=0.8-0ubuntu3 libnm-util1=0.8-0ubuntu3 network-manager- applet=0.8-0ubuntu3 This should take care of downgrading the network-manager packages to the correct versions (which don't require isc-dhcp (which should have been available in the ppa stated above though)). You will likely also want to run 'sudo apt-get autoclean' to make sure your package cache contains the right things -- 0.8-0ubuntu5~nmt5~karmic should then disappear from the output of apt-cache policy, but you will still need to make sure the ~network-manager/trunk ppa isn't listed in sources.list or files under sources.list.d/. ** Package changed: dhcp3 (Ubuntu) => network-manager (Ubuntu) ** Tags added: nm-trunk -- Recent update broke dhcp https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/643100 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to dhcp3 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 651535] Re: package libapache2-mod-php5 5.3.2-1ubuntu4.5 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess pre-removal script returned error exit status 1
Hello firebird! Thank you for taking the time to submit this bug report and work with us to make Ubuntu better. The directory, /etc/php5/apache2, seems to have disappeared before the "pre removal" script from libapache2-mod-php5 version 5.3.2-1ubuntu4.2 was run. Its possible that this was caused by some bug in dpkg but I think rather unlikely, and there's nothing in the log that would suggest that happened. Is it possible that you removed this directory on accident? Please check that it exists. If it does not, then as a workaround, try doing 'sudo mkdir -p /etc/php5/apache2' and then running the upgrade process again. You may also want to purge the package and re-install it (and anything that depends on it), so you get a new clean copy of the config files. After reviewing the prerm script, it is making a perfectly valid assumption that a directory owned by its package still exists when making that .start file. So I am closing this bug report as Invalid. ** Changed in: php5 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- package libapache2-mod-php5 5.3.2-1ubuntu4.5 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess pre-removal script returned error exit status 1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/651535 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to php5 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Hello Emmanuel, thank you for taking the time to file this bug report and help make Ubuntu better! [Bug 647600] Re: package mysql-server-5.0 (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1
Hello sivasle, thanks for taking the time to file this bug report and help us make Ubuntu better! It would appear that you are trying to downgrade from mysql 5.1 to 5.0, which dpkg is refusing to do because it may cause problems given the configuration files and data on disk. It may be confusing because you actually did remove the mysql-server-5.1 package, but you didn't purge it. So the data files and configuration files should still be on your system. If you have a good reason to use mysql 5.0 instead of 5.1, you'll want to purge mysql-server-5.1 before installing 5.0. Try Please note that this may ask you to delete all of the mysql config files and data on disk, so make sure you backup your configuration and data before running this: sudo dpkg --purge mysql-server-core-5.1 sudo dpkg --purge mysql-server-5.1 And then install mysql-server-5.0. Closing this bug as Invalid, as the package and software are both working as they should. ** Changed in: mysql-dfsg-5.0 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- package mysql-server-5.0 (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/647600 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to mysql-dfsg-5.0 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 652433] Re: Init script dependency error: krb5-kdc starts before slapd
Since both services may depend on the other in ways that will break, we can only support a default configuration. The server guide currently does not have kerberos depending on LDAP, nor does it suggest LDAP depend on kerberos. So, the current configuration is probably sufficient, and dependencies can be adjusted for specific configurations as necessary. I'll look into this, it would be nicer. There's already a libvirt-bin.init in the packaging though, so for now I just added a dependency on omit-kvm-vm-pids. Thanks for the '##*/' explanation, google was not at all helpful with that particular search. :) I made another change in addition to yours above.
