[Bug 651134] Re: apache crashes with *** glibc detected *** /usr/sbin/apache2: double free or corruption (fasttop): 0x00007f8b5c8fdac0 ***

2010-10-01 Thread Paul Vaughan
Have run apport-collect on the server via a remote ssh session but
despite trying to sign in with my email address and password (good text
interface by the way), the continue text is inactive. I can get a
forgotten password, create a new account or cancel (all work) but I
cannot continue.

Have never used this before so it's possible I'm doing something wrong,
but I can log in just fine to Launchpad via a browser on my desktop
machine.

[Bug 651877] Re: package ibmasm-utils 3.0-1ubuntu9 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2010-10-01 Thread James Page
Looking at the powerpc linux-image package (the equivalent provide the
ibmasm module on i386 and amd64 architectures) I can't find any support
for ibmasm in the kernel, i.e. no module for this architecture.

This would explain the error messages that you have seen during the
installation of ibmasm-utils.

The ibmasm module depends on a x86 architecture so is not supported by
the kernel on powerpc.

The ibmasm-utils package should be updated to reflect this dependency in
the underlying module as it currently supports 'any' architecture.

[Bug 610987] Re: euca-describe-availability-zones output is a hint, not totally accurate - and should be documented

2010-10-01 Thread Dave Walker
I intended to get this in the next upload of euca2ools as it doesn't
seem this is worthwhile of an upload on it's own, but this situation
hasn't arisen. Marking won't fix for Maverick, and will open a task for
Natty when available. Of course, in the unlikely event euca2ools needs
an upload before Maverick release - this should be added.

groupadd: no se puede bloquear /etc/gshadow; inténtelo más tarde.
adduser: `/usr/sbin/groupadd -g 126 clamav' devolvió el código de error 10.
Saliendo.

Looks like something has locked that file so the clamav user can't be
added. Search for /etc/gshadow.*, or try a "lsof |grep gshadow" to see
what other process is using the file.

It's not a clamav bug.

[Bug 600549] Re: m2crypto fails to build from source in maverick

2010-10-01 Thread Marc Deslauriers
This new failing test is related to SSLv2 being disabled in openssl 0.9

The only way to resolve this is to disable that particular test, as it
is expected to fail.

[Bug 643100] Re: Recent update broke dhcp

2010-10-01 Thread Mathieu Trudel
Till, do you have files in /etc/apt/sources.list.d? This is likely where
the packages sources would come from.

This bug comes from the fact that at some point (or maybe you still do)
packages were installed from the ~network-manager team trunk PPA. The
issue is in network-manager, not dhcp3, so I'm reassigning it as such.

As for a quick fix, if you're on lucid try to do the following:

sudo apt-get install network-manager=0.8-0ubuntu3 libnm-
glib2=0.8-0ubuntu3 libnm-util1=0.8-0ubuntu3 network-manager-
applet=0.8-0ubuntu3

This should take care of downgrading the network-manager packages to the
correct versions (which don't require isc-dhcp (which should have been
available in the ppa stated above though)).

You will likely also want to run 'sudo apt-get autoclean' to make sure
your package cache contains the right things -- 0.8-0ubuntu5~nmt5~karmic
should then disappear from the output of apt-cache policy, but you will
still need to make sure the ~network-manager/trunk ppa isn't listed in
sources.list or files under sources.list.d/.

** Package changed: dhcp3 (Ubuntu) => network-manager (Ubuntu)

** Tags added: nm-trunk

[Bug 651535] Re: package libapache2-mod-php5 5.3.2-1ubuntu4.5 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess pre-removal script returned error exit status 1

2010-10-01 Thread Clint Byrum
Hello firebird! Thank you for taking the time to submit this bug report
and work with us to make Ubuntu better.

The directory, /etc/php5/apache2, seems to have disappeared before the
"pre removal" script from libapache2-mod-php5 version 5.3.2-1ubuntu4.2
was run.

Its possible that this was caused by some bug in dpkg but I think rather
unlikely, and there's nothing in the log that would suggest that
happened. Is it possible that you removed this directory on accident?

Please check that it exists. If it does not, then as a workaround, try
doing 'sudo mkdir -p /etc/php5/apache2' and then running the upgrade
process again. You may also want to purge the package and re-install it
(and anything that depends on it), so you get a new clean copy of the
config files.

After reviewing the prerm script, it is making a perfectly valid
assumption that a directory owned by its package still exists when
making that .start file. So I am closing this bug report as Invalid.

[Bug 332156] Re: Network issues with hardy guests/hosts, using default nic and virtio

2010-10-01 Thread Roger Sala
I'm having a (similar?) problem running KVMs on a Hardy server. Packets
are intermittently dropped somewhere between layers 2 and 3, i.e. they
are captured arriving at the network interface by tcpdump but they don't
get recv'd by socket code or logged with iptables. Is this problem
related somehow to Bug #332156? The KVMs have been upgraded to Karmic
btw -- I don't know if that makes any difference. Details are below:

[Bug 653154] Re: package mail-stack-delivery (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1

2010-10-01 Thread Dave Walker
Thanks for reporting this issue. Can you provide some history of the system,
for example:
 * Is this an upgrade from Lucid or clean install?
 * What changes have been made in regards to the default install.

I was able to install a vanilla *1ubuntu6* and upgrade to *1ubuntu7*
(essentially what you did) without this issue, the only difference was
that i did it on amd64 rather than i386. I will try and reproduce this
soon, unless somebody beats me to it.

Bouncing back to Incomplete status.. Thanks!

[Bug 652545] Re: package apache2.2-common (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2010-10-01 Thread Clint Byrum
Hello Emmanuel, thank you for taking the time to file this bug report
and help make Ubuntu better!

Based on the error messages, it would appear that this is a duplicate of
bug #562370

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apache2/+bug/562370

Before I mark it as duplicate though, I'll ask you to try the workaround
in comment #8 of the bug linked above. Please try

sudo a2dismod reqtimeout
sudo apt-get -f install

then when it succeeds

sudo a2enmod reqtimeout

Please try the above commands, and report back here what the result was.

Marking incomplete pending confirmation from Emmanuel.

[Bug 647600] Re: package mysql-server-5.0 (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1

2010-10-01 Thread Clint Byrum
Hello sivasle, thanks for taking the time to file this bug report and
help us make Ubuntu better!

It would appear that you are trying to downgrade from mysql 5.1 to 5.0,
which dpkg is refusing to do because it may cause problems given the
configuration files and data on disk. It may be confusing because you
actually did remove the mysql-server-5.1 package, but you didn't purge
it. So the data files and configuration files should still be on your
system.

If you have a good reason to use mysql 5.0 instead of 5.1, you'll want
to purge mysql-server-5.1 before installing 5.0. Try

Please note that this may ask you to delete all of the mysql config
files and data on disk, so make sure you backup your configuration and
data before running this:

sudo dpkg --purge mysql-server-core-5.1
sudo dpkg --purge mysql-server-5.1

And then install mysql-server-5.0.

Closing this bug as Invalid, as the package and software are both
working as they should.

[Bug 653248] Re: package php5-common (not instal led) failed to install/upgrade: Unterprozess dpkg-deb --control gab den Fehlerwert 2 zurück

2010-10-01 Thread Clint Byrum
Hello Walter, thank you for taking the time to file this report and help
make Ubuntu better.

I believe there is a problem with your downloaded packages. You should
try to clear your cache and then re-attempt the package upgrades or
installations you were attempting again.

Run

apt-get clean

To clear the cache entirely.

Closing this bug as Invalid, as there is no software bug here, just
corrupt files on disk.

[Bug 532733] Re: apt/dpkg in qemu-system-arm hangs if a big task is installed

2010-10-01 Thread Dr. The Fugitive
This should help a little:
I can confirm that this is a problem in rootstock, not just inside qemu or
qemu/kvm.
Reproducible on host system.
System output from uname :

u...@lucid:~/kvm$ uname -a
Linux lucid 2.6.32-25-generic #44-Ubuntu SMP Fri Sep 17 20:05:27 UTC 2010
x86_64 GNU/Linux

Rootstock command used :

u...@lucid:~/kvm$ sudo rootstock --fqdn nexus --login user --password
psswd --imagesize 8G --seed ubuntu-netbook,build-essential,openssh-
server,nano

This has failed three times in a row, hanging upon :

Unpacking iso-codes (from .../iso-codes_3.12.1-1_all.deb) ...

This essential just hangs the bash shell, terminal still responsive to ctrl-C,
utilizes 100% of 1 (one) of my dual cores.
Is there any open issues on rootstock related to this?

Thanks-
DrTheFugitive

[Bug 652038] Re: package clamav-base 0.96.1+dfsg-0ubuntu0.10.04.2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 10

2010-10-01 Thread Clint Byrum
Hello Mugsy, thank you for taking the time to file this bug report and
help us make Ubuntu better!

There are a lot of things that can go wrong in that post installation
script, and unfortunately the DpkgTerminalLog.txt output does not show
any error messages. Its not clear what would provide a return code of
10.

Can you provide us with any further information as to when this failed?
Were you prompted for any debconf questions or anything like that?

Marking Incomplete pending a response from Mugsy.

[Bug 652433] Re: Init script dependency error: krb5-kdc starts before slapd

2010-10-01 Thread Clint Byrum
Since both services may depend on the other in ways that will break, we
can only support a default configuration.

The server guide currently does not have kerberos depending on LDAP, nor
does it suggest LDAP depend on kerberos.

So, the current configuration is probably sufficient, and dependencies
can be adjusted for specific configurations as necessary.

Setting importance to wishlist, as this is ultimately a feature request
not a bug.

Marking Opinion, as there is no clear reason to reject or accept this
feature request.

What fails is qemu-arm-static, as rootstock uses it internally to
install the packages.

[Bug 350936] Re: Should shut down domains on system shutdown

2010-10-01 Thread Nathan Crawford

I think it already is? (dpkg --status libvirt-bin says it is... but I've been
changing things all over the place so I might have confused it)

I'll look into this, it would be nicer. There's already a libvirt-bin.init in
the packaging though, so for now I just added a dependency on omit-kvm-vm-pids.

Thanks for the '##*/' explanation, google was not at all helpful with
that particular search. :)

I made another change in addition to yours above. The
/lib/init/rw/sendsigs.omit.d/ folder does not exist on my system, so I changed
it to /var/run/sendsigs.omit.d/ as mentioned by this bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sysvinit/+bug/541512

Also, are these changes based on Lucid packages? The Lucid machine I'm
using for testing has a kernel panic on shutdown with the packages from
my PPA installed.

[Bug 653405] Re: package rabbitmq-server 1.7.2-1ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2010-10-01 Thread Clint Byrum
Hi Takey, thanks for taking the time to file this bug report and help us
make Ubuntu better!

The DpkgTerminalLog.txt suggests that the details of what caused
rabbitmq to fail will be in /var/log/rabbitmq/startup_log

This error message suggests that
Setting up rabbitmq-server (1.7.2-1ubuntu1) ...
Starting rabbitmq-server: FAILED - check /var/log/rabbitmq/startup_log, _err
rabbitmq-server.
invoke-rc.d: initscript rabbitmq-server, action "start" failed.
dpkg: error processing rabbitmq-server (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

Can you please upload that file, and any others in that directory that
might help us understand what caused this failure?

Marking Incomplete pending Takey's response.

[Bug 653362] Re: package mail-stack-delivery 1:1.2.12-1ubuntu7 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1

2010-10-01 Thread Clint Byrum
Hello Col., Thank you for taking the time to file this bug report and
help us make Ubuntu better.

The error messages in DpkgTerminalLog.txt that show this failure are
here:

Selecting previously deselected package mail-stack-delivery.
Unpacking mail-stack-delivery (from
.../mail-stack-delivery_1%3a1.2.12-1ubuntu7_all.deb) ...

dpkg: error processing
/var/cache/apt/archives/mail-stack-delivery_1%3a1.2.12-1ubuntu7_all.deb
(--unpack):
subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1

This file attempts to rename these files from dovecot-postfix to mail-
stack-delivery if they exist.

Is it possible that you have changed the permissions on the directory or
files that would cause these errors? Maybe /etc is mounted readonly? The
permission denied is odd because these scripts run as root.

I just tested upgrading Lucid -> Maverick with dovecot-postifx
installed, and it renamed the file without any errors.

Col, if you could please post the result of

ls -lR /etc/dovecot

That would help us determine whether or not the permissions have been
locally modified in a way that breaks the install script, or whether the
install scripts need to be changed.

Marking Incomplete pending respond from Col. Sood.
