[Ubuntu-phone] running default unity-scope on phone fails

2016-01-10 Thread Ingo Randolf
Hi.

When i try to start a default (unchanged) "Unity-Scope (Current)"
project on a BQ Aquaris E4.5 i get this output:

ERROR: untitled.username_untitled: unity::scopes::ConfigException:
Cannot instantiate run time for untitled.username_untitled, config file:
/home/phablet/.local/share/unity-scopes//untitled.username_untitled_0.1:
unity::scopes::ConfigException: invalid config file name:

unity::scopes::ConfigException: invalid config file name:
"/home/phablet/.local/share/unity-scopes//untitled.username_untitled_0.1":
missing .ini extension

the project runs on the desktop.

looking into:
/home/phablet/.local/share/unity-scopes//untitled.username_untitled_0.1
i find untitled.username_untitled.ini
what's wrong? how can i fix this?

after trying to run it on the phone, the "Apps" application is stuck
(can not scroll).
other than that the phone seems to operate normally. changing apps and
using them is possible.
only a reboot solves this for me. (can i restart the "Apps" application
somehow?)

thanks
best

 Hello everyone,

We have just copied most of the OTA-10 images to the stable
 channels and
started the phased upgrade procedure. I mentioned 'most' as for now we
only prepared krillin, vegetahd and arale. Mako and flo will be
following shortly, we just need a few more hours for those - but those
will be happening today as well.

As always, all users should see the update on their phones tomorrow at
 latest.

The release notes page for this OTA including all the necessary
information - along with changes, image numbers, issues and
 commitlogs:
* https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/ReleaseNotes/OTA-10

Once again big thanks to everyone participating in this release! It
 was
a huge update and a big challenge with all the new devices appearing,
but I hope everyone will be satisfied with what we prepared.

 Cheers,

 Best regards,

Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Ubuntu Touch OTA-10 released

2016-04-13 Thread Ingo Randolf
the upgrade via commandline did not help.

here a pastebin with the commandline output:
http://pastebin.com/0LbKubxf

similar behaviour:
- download things
- reboot with progressbar (updating?)
- 2nd reboot (this did not happen before)
- system shows version OTA9.1
- Update option in "Updates"

is there a log-file to see what went wrong with the update?

thx

Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Ubuntu Touch OTA-10 released

2016-04-15 Thread Ingo Randolf
when goint to Seetings -> Updates i see first:
"checking for updates..." and then a progress-bar for downloading the
Ubuntu update.
the progressbar does not show any progress, but at finally disappears
giving me the "Install and reboot" option.

i guess the update is already downloaded and used.

where is the update-data? can i remove it? maybe it works when i get a
fresh download?
in which log file would i see some indication for the update problem?

thanks

the log file in /android/cache/recovery reveals, that there is not
enough space on the disk to unpack the update.
that is good to know.
after cleaning the phone i have 3.7GB free space, but the update fails
again.

here the last lines in the log:

...

it looks like its only possible for the device to unpack ~50%. ealier in

the first progress-bar disappears after a while, because the files are
already downloaded to /android/cache/recovery/
if i remove the files in this folder, the download will start again.

when the option "Install and reboot" is available i do press it to start
the updating-process...

Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Ubuntu Touch OTA-10 released

2016-04-18 Thread Ingo Randolf
i was able to free around 80 MB on mmcblk0p6 by removing log-file
content and log-archives in /var/log, did 'apt-get clean' and found (and
erased) a binary of the previously un-installed dekko.

after another update, it shows the correct version number: OTA-10.1

mmcblk0p6 again is filled up again:
/dev/mmcblk0p6 2.0G 2.0G 0 100% /

i guess that it actually did do the update, but could not to rewrite the
version information?
(the new theme was installed after the first udpate.)

it might be that i installed additional packages.
maybe it's a good idea to reflash. is there information on how to do this?

thanks

Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Ubuntu Touch OTA-10 released

2016-04-21 Thread Ingo Randolf
hello.

alright, i flashed the device following the instructions here:
https://developer.ubuntu.com/en/phone/devices/installing-ubuntu-for-devices/

my mmcblk0p6 seems to be fine again:
/dev/mmcblk0p6 2.0G 1.4G 629M 69% /

OS version is on: 15.04(r24)

"Updates" does not give me an option to update the system.

a 'sudo system-image-cli -v' gives me:
...
[systemimage] Apr 21 18:17:34 2016 (29310) [0xb6396290] Group download
reactor done
[systemimage] Apr 21 18:17:34 2016 (29310) Already up-to-date
[systemimage] Apr 21 18:17:34 2016 (29310) state machine finished

information about the systme-image:

phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ sudo system-image-cli -i
current build number: 24
device name: krillin
channel: ubuntu-touch/stable/ubuntu
last update: 2016-04-21 11:52:48
version version: 24
version ubuntu: 20150713
version device: 20150529-8e13c5f
version custom: 20150713

how can i force the update to OTA10.1?

thanks
ingo

[Ubuntu-phone] [Performance] process message+

2015-07-02 Thread Ingo Randolf
Hello.

I use a bq-phone with ubuntu-touch with the latest update.
OS build number: 23
20150611.3

the phone freezes regularely, often it reacts very (very) slowly.

if i then check the running processes i see the process "message+" using
over 90% cpu.
sometimes process+ takes up more than 96% of cpu time.

what is message+?
why does it use so much processing power?
can i do something to reduce its need for cpu time?

thanks
greetings
ingo

Re: [Ubuntu-phone] [Performance] process message+

2015-08-07 Thread Ingo Randolf
Hi.

following up on this...

it did not happen for a while, but it happened today again. (see
original message)
dbus was spinning up, so it was almost impossible to use the phone.

i was able to record some traffic going over the bus with dbus-monitor.
the high performance impact is wifi related. network discovery or
something...?

this pastebin shows the log with high performance impact.
at the end of the log you can see things getting normal again:
http://pastebin.com/v55umuBF

this pastebin in comparison shows the traffic after things settled and
the phone was usable again.
http://pastebin.com/CrQ0Z3K2

even if the system is busy discovering accesspoints it whould not freeze
like this.
hope this is helpful in some way to solve this...

best
ingo

Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Bluetooth died after OTA13

2016-09-24 Thread Ingo Randolf
For me bluetooth on a bq aquaris E4.5 seems to work. indication is fine.

i never used it before, the only device i had on hand was a apple
bluetooth mouse, which connected wihtout a problem.
the only issue i have with the mouse is that the clicks do not work.
scrolling works fine.
