[Bug 297168] [NEW] Video, Flash and system have no sound

2008-11-12 Thread ubby
Public bug reported:

I am working with Ubuntu 8.10 but have no system sound and also no sound when I
play a video and Flash.
Some video players crash because the can not find a sound plugin.

When I close Pulse audio I can play a video with some players (with sound) and
play music with only Gxine.
But this will not solve the problem.
I think this is a very important bug to be solved if there are more people with
the same problem.

[Bug 297168] Re: Video, Flash and system have no sound

2008-11-12 Thread ubby
The sound did work fine with Ubuntu 7.10 (my first Ubuntu) but with the release
of Ubuntu 8.04 the sound didn't work anymore.
I think this problem is caused by Pulse audio because in Ubuntu 8.04 Pulse
audio was implemented for the first time.

[Bug 297168] Re: Video, Flash and system have no sound

2008-11-13 Thread ubby
With Ubuntu 8.04 I have done all troubleshooting and with help from the Dutch
forum but it didn't solve the problem.
Also if there is a solution with troubleshooting than it is still a bug because
the sound have to work out of the box.

After I did this (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems)
troubleshooting the sound still not work.

When I test the sound in Preferences > Sound I get the following message:
audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample !
gconfaudiosink: Failed to connect stream: Invalid argument

[Bug 366661] Re: Computer Janitor is not doing wat it has to do

2009-05-01 Thread ubby
The misunderstanding lies in the fact that Computer Janitor a cleaner is called
a cleaner for keeping your system clean but this is not what Computer Janitor
does.
It says what is old concerning lib-files etc. and gives the programs that I
have installed myself for example using deb files.
Simply another name and a better introducing text and the problem is solved.

Here are the comments on the program on a Dutch forum:

[Bug 366245] [NEW] Resolution dousn't work correct in Ubuntu 9.04

2009-04-24 Thread ubby
Public bug reported:

I had installed Ubuntu 9.04 and have a problem with high cpu and can't get the
screen in the right resolution.
I think this problem is caused by the videocard driver but I don't know for
sure.
I had tried Ubuntu 9.04 (32 bit), Ubuntu 9.04 (64 bit) and Kubuntu 9.04 (32
bit) and all the versions had a problem with the screen.
Only with Ubuntu 9.04 (32 bit) and Ubuntu 9.04 (64 bit) the cpu get real high
and it looks like if the computer is crashing.
With Kubuntu 9.04 (32 bit) the screen turns black and you only see the mouse
pointer on the screen but you can move the mouse pointer, this happens after
turning on the effects.
I uninstall Ubuntu from the computer because I can't work with it this way.

I have a ATI 3850 HD Radeon videocard.
Below I have some extra output:

For this reason I don't think it is a user question because it has to work but
it don't work.
If it is a user question it is to solve with a answer.

[Bug 226792] [NEW] soundcard error

2008-05-05 Thread ubby
Public bug reported:

I have no sound and when I try to test the sound in System>Preferences>Sound I
get the following error:
audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample !
gconfaudiosink: Failed to connect stream: Invalid argument

I have a Terratec DMX 6fire 24/96 soundcart.
On the forum I had help and I have tried to do the following
(https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshooting?action=show&redirect=DebuggingSoundProblems):

sudo aptitude install linux-ubuntu-modules-`uname -r`

But today I had startup the computer and the sound is away again.

I also think this bug is related with the problem that I cannot play movie
trailers on the internet (the little screen stays black).
But yesterday when the sound was solved the video problem was also solved.

Below I have two screenshots:

[Bug 936052] Re: File browser hangs after a while

2012-02-25 Thread ubby
I have tried to make a backtrace. It wasn't so difficult than I thought.

I can't get any further than step 4 on this page
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace
Nautilus turn black when I right click a file and the rest of the system also
hangs so it isn't possible to further with the steps.

It did work before but the last weeks Shotwell crashes many times. Now Shotwell

Where can I found the .xsession-errors file and how can I start Shotwell from
