*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 386150 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/386150 i don't talk about any toolbar... i don't talk about moving elements.. i just talk about changing the default display size of nautilus, and perhaps display more caracters on a filename in some case. -- nautilus loses too much space on screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/388089 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu (via bug 386150). -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 386150] Re: Nautilus file browser toolbar is complicated, redundant, and ugly
well... i think it's a very bad idea. most user, on other os, use the navigation arrow.. remove them, mean annoying lots of new user on linux. i even use them very often, without thinking about it. And if you look how people use win95->vista, you'll see they use it everyday. So removing it is a bad idea if you want to spread the use of a file manager on linux. reducing the size of nautilus on the screen is for me, one of the main thing that has to be done. the toolbar is too big, it's true. i don't know about the icons inside, but don't remove the arrow, witch are usefull for many newbie. another important point for me, is the size of the folders, i already talked about it on the bug that have been merged with this one : https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/388089 (do i need to repeat ? or just a link is engouh? i'm not used with the way talking on a buglist) -- Nautilus file browser toolbar is complicated, redundant, and ugly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/386150 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 199030] Re: Can't close SCIM
Hello, Apologies if my comments are irrelevant or superfluous, this is my first time using the forums. Whenever I log on, the SCIM keyboard icon appears by the date and time. When I open a window, it turns to a Chinese character icon and whatever I type turns to Chinese. "System/Administration/Language Support -> disable the checkbox "Enable support to enter complex characters" - I've done this. "sudo im-switch -z all_ALL -s none" - I've done this. "for conf in ja_JP ko_KR zh_CN zh_HK zh_SG zh_TW all_ALL; do if LC_ALL=C update-alternatives --display xinput-${conf} | grep -q 'status is manual' && LC_ALL=C update-alternatives --display xinput-${conf} | grep -q 'currently points to .*scim-bridge'; then update-alternatives --auto xinput-${conf}; fi; done" - I've done this. Yet the blasted thing still appears, and I still end up typing Chinese every time I open a new window. I'm at the end of my tether, and I don't really want to have to do a clean installation. Any more suggestions? [Bug 225257] Re: Firefox 3 Beta 5 not saving normal or live bookmarks
I had some free time today and did some 'destructive' debugging on this problem, here's what I discovered: I closed down firefox and performed 'rm -rf .mozilla' in my home directory, effectively blowing away the entire firefox configuration. I restarted firefox and went through preferences, setting things to the way I like them. Next, I performed some testing, adding normal bookmarks and live bookmarks. The bookmarks added themselves to the bookmark menu and were still there after closing and restarting firefox, even after logging out and logging back in. In essence, the problem was solved and firefox was bookmarking like it should. I think this definitely proves that this is a configuration issue. Next, I am a very fond and extensive user of google toolbar, so that I can access my bookmarks from whatever browser I choose to use. In firefox 3b5, google's toolbar does not work, it's not compatible. Even if you disable the compatibility checking, it still refuses to download your bookmarks. I'd gotten around this by using the 'gmarks' add-on instead. I wanted to return to the exact same configuration for the purposes of this test, therefore I went ahead and re-installed gmarks. Now that gmarks was installed, I noted that the same bookmark problem was back. In gmarks options, there is an option for 'CTRL+D / CTRL+SHIFT+D support', it seems that this will basically intercept any 'add bookmark' requests, even if chosen from the bookmark menu. I disabled this option and found that I could add bookmarks and live bookmarks again with no problems. I think that the main thing we can draw from this is that there is a very high chance that the problems we are experiencing might be the fault of an add-on? It might also be useful if as well as just going through and disabling add-ons as a test, we might want to try blowing away the ~/.mozilla directory as well and starting firefox from scratch again? This bug is definitely solved for me at this point. - Your issue looks like its gmarks that was causing it. this may not be the same for everyone but either way we are unable to support extensions we dont package. - I certainly agree with that. Ok, The good news here is that I'm an idiot!!! :) I'm very, very new to xen and had accepted pretty much the defaults for the xend configuration. I was setting up my DomU to use routed traffic, however, my xend config was configured to use bridging. [Bug 184482] Unable to save on USB drive
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus When I insert a memory stick in my USB drive the computer recognises it and successfully opens it - hence no problem on that side. The problem is when I try to save files such as open office onto the memory stick or using other UBUNTU applications or copy and paste files from โDocumentsโ folders. When I try to save files on the memory stick, this is what happens. The files appear to have been saved in the Memory stick. But when you pull out the memory stick and insert it into another computer I get a blank screen. Sometimes an empty shell of the original files saves appears on the memory stick but with nothing in them โ I.e. just an empty shell. But on some cases the files seems to save properly. Also when I pull out the memory stick I keep getting โUnsafe device removalโ message. asking me to go and tinker with โRejectโ in the drive icon. But the Memory stick Icon has no โRejectโ option. For your information I have two hard drive on the PC. Hardware: Dell Mini 10 CPU1: Intel Atom Z530 CPU2: Intel Atom Z530 Memory: 1GB Please note that I have updated the language packs, and selected Spanish as the language for the second user. Public bug reported: Having a hell of a time trying to update my Acer netbook. Couldn't install latest OS, kept getting CD errors. I have no CD drive on this computer. Checked order in BIOS and tons of other things. Gave up. Installed 10.04 and upgraded to 10.10 and received this error. Will try to upgrade to 11.04 next if system isn't completely screwed. [Bug 663887] Re: Left internal speaker not working in Maverick [Sony Vaio F11 / ALC275]
One of the errors I had with this bug (before Alex has confirmed it works in natty) is that it would also disable the left speaker in my windows 7 install. This would require me to uninstall and delete drivers for ALL sound output 4x Nvidia HDMI 1x Realtek speaker 1x Bluetooth audio and perform numerous reboots and driver installs to fix this. This problem occurs even from a live cd boot, so I am cautious of trying it again. Alex, will a daily live natty iso have this kernel in it or did you pull it from a ppa? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/663887 Title: Left internal speaker not working in Maverick [Sony Vaio F11 / ALC275] -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 156085] Re: Could not open /proc/bus/usb/devices
As far as I can tell, this also affects xsane for some scanners. I've a Canon Canoscan LiDE 60 that used to work fine in Feisty, but now doesn't get found. Since usbview is complaining about /proc/bus/usb/devices, I suspect the same issue. Seems like there's been a long trail on this one. Can we expect a fix soon? As someone who tries to promote Linux and Open Source, bugs like this really take the rug out from under us and send folk rushing to spend $100s with M$.
