[Bug 220143] [NEW] update manager crashed while updating from Gutsy to Heron

2008-04-21 Thread mj
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

I updated from Gutsy to Heron beta, and the update manager said it was
crashing and that my system would be unstable, something about xorg. I
seem to have 8.04 installed just fine, but the error said to report the

[Bug 220143] Re: update manager crashed while updating from Gutsy to Heron

2008-04-22 Thread mj
I used the upgrade manager to download some reccomended updates to
Heron, and now my sound and internet aren't working, so I can't post the
xorg log file you asked for. Sorry!

I think I'm gonna go back to Gutsy for a week or two then try Heron
again. Looks nice from the screenshots, just doesn't seem to be ready
for my Thinkpad T42 laptop for some reason. Thanks to everyone in the
Ubuntu community, its a great OS, I think I'm just to much of a newb to
try out release candidates.

[Bug 220143] Re: update manager crashed while updating from Gutsy to Heron

2008-04-26 Thread mj
I have since upgraded to the 'final' Hardy Heron release, and I had no
trouble at all, no error messages. I don't have any of the files or logs
or anything saved from the RC when I ran into the bug.

How can I help with this bug? Would it be useful is I tried to reinstall
Heron and see if the bug happens again?

The video drivers for my card always seem to be a little buggy (ATI
radeon mobility, I forget the model but its not supported by fglrx),
could that be the problem with Xorg? Everything is running great now,
8.04 seems to be a really awesome product.

[Bug 1962293] [NEW] fps drop with on-demand profile

2022-02-25 Thread mj
Public bug reported:

Hi, I have Lenovo Ideapad S540 with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 with Max-Q Design
(GPU 0) and Ubuntu 20.04, when I choose the on-demand profile, everything is
fine except bothering fps drop, when moving curser or opening a window and etc.
So with the last update which power saving is disabled, I have to downgrade to
the previous version, because of high power usage with the performance profile.
I have this problem with ubuntu 18.04 and continues till now.

[Bug 256777] Re: POP server port setting is missing, setting other port then 25 not possible

2008-11-09 Thread MJ Costik
OK, enough.

Comcast just changed from port 25 to 587 because 25 was "too busy" and
now I am shut out of using Evolution Mail. I've had to switch to
Thunderbird where I can put in the 587 port.

Inconvenient and a bit more if you ask me.

[Bug 226707] Re: zeroconf service discovery does not work

2008-05-25 Thread MJ Britt
Ok, this is weird!

When switching to GNOME, everything works! I can mount the 2 disk I have
connected to my network and I can print to the printer.

Will not work in KDE!

I'm using Ubuntu 8.04 on a Toshiba Satellite L45

[Bug 130888] Re: Can't choose ica protocol

2010-11-22 Thread Mod John (MJ)
I have the installed the ICA client from Citrix. It installed all it's
files into /opt/ICAClient

The location of 'wfica' is /opt/ICAClient/wfica and also there is a
/opt/ICAClient/wfica.bin

The only binary it places in /usr/bin/ is wfcmgr.

I have tested the ICA client by itself and it works fine. Yet in
'tsclient' the option of adding a ICA connections is still greyed out.

I thought it might be because 'wfica' is not in the PATH. I created a
symbolic link to '/opt/ICAClient/wfica' at '/usr/bin/wfica' then logged
out and back in again. This didn't make a difference, the option is
still greyed out.

[Bug 459199] Re: Greeter does not show legacy users with uid < 1000

2019-12-18 Thread Mod John (MJ) via ubuntu-bugs
This is a problem for me using:
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:Pop!_OS 19.04
Release:19.04
Codename: disco

So I did a:
sudo nano -w /etc/login.defs

Changed to this:

UID_MIN 500
UID_MAX 599

Still not working so trying this as well:

sudo nano -w /etc/gdm3/custom.conf

Add this:

[greeter]
MinimalUID=500

Yet still not working. :(

[Bug 1877477] [NEW] qemu-system-x86 missing pa driver for pulseaudio

2020-05-07 Thread Mod John (MJ) via ubuntu-bugs
Public bug reported:

$ qemu-system-x86_64 --audio-help
Environment variable based configuration deprecated.
Please use the new -audiodev option.

Equivalent -audiodev to your current environment variables:
(Since you didn't specify QEMU_AUDIO_DRV, I'll list all possibilities)
-audiodev id=alsa,driver=alsa
-audiodev id=oss,driver=oss
-audiodev id=none,driver=none

** Affects: qemu (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
