[Bug 311319] Re: [intrepid] tuxguitar needs the package timidity to have sound working
I think the point of this bug is that by default, the sound of tuxguitar is not working. That forces the users to look in google or forums looking for "no sound in tuxguitar" to get it to work, that is not user friendly. True story: a friend has been using tuxguitar with no sound for months, he thought it was a bug in the program. I wonder how many people tried it, saw it didn't work, and uninstalled it. The sound should be working by default. For platforms with no sound... users would not expect sound then! An error message could be displayed in this case anyway... The best approach IMHO is to install tuixguitar-jsa automatically along with tuxguitar, and display a message to the user saying he/she could get better sound quality by installing timidity and configuring it in the preferences. Maybe timidity should not be installed by default, as it is a deamon that would be running all the time. Or, if nothing else, at least display a message on the first start up explaining what to do to get sound. -- [intrepid] tuxguitar needs the package timidity to have sound working https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/311319 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 84348] Re: X wont start after upgrade to -11 kernel
Same problem here (Edgy Eft Amd64). It happened because I have the nvidia proprietary drivers installed (this is why proprietary drivers are bad:)) To solve the problem, do the following: After your PC runs into the blue "X problem" screen, press Ctrl-Alt-F1 to go to the console in text mode. In the console, login, then type: sudo apt-get installlinux-restricted-modules-2.6.17-11-generic Reboot. Or, if you don't like to use the console and type commands do the following: When the PC start you have the choice to boot: Ubunt, kernel 2.6.17-11-generic Ubuntu, kernel 2.6.17-10-generic Choose kernel 2.6.17-10-generic, the PC will start normally. Log in and start Synaptic (System > Administration > Synaptic Package Manager) Search "nvidia" You will find: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.17-10-generic, that is installed and linux-restricted-modules-2.6.17-11-generic that is not installed Mark linux-restricted-modules-2.6.17-11-generic for installation and press Apply. [Bug 95853] Re: Add an option to get a confirmation dialog before sending files to the trash in Nautilus
Thanks Paul. There is already an option for that in the Nautilus GUI: Edit > Preferences > Behavior: Ask before emptying the trash or deleting files.. This bug is actually about getting an option to warn the user before sending files to the trash. I'll update the title of the bug. ** Summary changed: - Add an option to get a confirmation dialog before deleting files in Nautilus + Add an option to get a confirmation dialog before sending files to the trash in Nautilus -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/95853 Title: Add an option to get a confirmation dialog before sending files to the trash in Nautilus -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 777292] Re: Gedit not single instance when started from unity
Actually, this 'bug' is the only way I found to open a new instance of gedit, which I like to do. [Bug 746210] Re: We can't minimize maximized window when it can't be activated
Aside from the Synaptic use case where the window cannot be activated, there's the more general issue that: no close/minimize/restore buttons are displayed on not-active windows that are fullscreen. So it takes an extra click to activate a window in order to use its buttons. That's a regression. [Bug 775862] Re: Installing nvidia-current and still no Unity (driver didn't load, even on reboot)
I don't think the bug is invalid, I am getting the issue (no Unity) on a fresh install of Natty on a T420 with a Nvidia NVS 4200M. Jockey-gtk shows that nvidia-current is installed but not in use.
