[Bug 251107] Re: [Intrepid] nvidia_drv.so: undefined symbol: AllocateScreenPrivateIndex

2008-12-04 Thread jackie999
Thank you Hein. My problem wasn't just the open office fonts, it was
also "Konversation" fonts, but the main problem was I was unable to
enable desktop effects and the fix Marius posted above fixed everything.

[Bug 251107] Re: [Intrepid] nvidia_drv.so: undefined symbol: AllocateScreenPrivateIndex

2008-11-14 Thread jackie999
I'm just new so will try to provide useful info.
Running 8.10 with nvidia GeForce FX 5500. The 173.14.12.1 doesn't seem to work,
it will not allow me to enable desktop effects.
I was able to install the 96.43.09 and am able to enable effects. But I find
when running Konversation all the text will blank out on screen refreshes. The
same thing is happening with Open Office applications - anywhere you'd normally
see text is blank.

Marius, that xorg.conf change did the trick, thanks very much for
passing that along.

[Bug 434568] Re: [Karmic] Lenovo SL500 volume up/down and mute keys don't work

2009-10-23 Thread jackie999
Just upgraded to 9.10 (2.6.31-11-generic) and noticed the volume hotkeys
didn't work. Did the above ("sudo modprobe lenovo-sl-laptop") and they
now work! Thanks!

[Bug 434568] Re: [Karmic] Lenovo SL500 volume up/down and mute keys don't work

2009-10-24 Thread jackie999
I wasn't able to edit my previous post so I'll add my comment here. Whereas the
above fix gave me back my volume buttons, adding it to my /etc/modules slowed
down my computer so badly I was about to go back to Jaunty. Then I remembered
I'd made that change, I removed it and I'm back to original speed - so I'm
still hoping for a fix in updates.
Thanks
