Yes. I do not know how you get version 2.6.28-12,as in default configuration it is 2.6.28-11 which is supported. Perhaps in Synaptic depot, you have added jaunty-proposed to use a software. You should try to go back to 2.6.28-11 and wait the next "stable" kernel, by removing jaunty-proposed in your synaptic depot, if you have it. I searched on Internet and I found nobody accessing sensors via VirtualBox, except one for a thermal sensor on USB. VirtualBox can access USB bus, but probably not on i2c. i2c is a low serial cost bus to connect to basic sensor, and professional manages temperature and fan from the guest host, so I am affraid there very few people who as to implement i2c reading. There are other vnc viewer like vinagre or xvnc4viewer, I have never try (today, I have a single computer). Well, yesterday I reassign via System->Favorite->Shortcut Keyboard tke key predifined to e-mail (I use only web mails) to open CD tray (I have no button on my computer). You have actions Sound->Volume Down and Sound->Volume Up. By selecting the row and typing the key you want, you can assign the used key to the intended action. But prehaps, I have not understood your problem. For X-Window (which is the software between card graphic driver and widget like GTK or Qt), the number of screens must not change. If screen is mirrored, you have only one physical screen. Else you have two independant screens or or big virtual screen mapped on two physical screens. In the stone edge (aroung 1980), X-Window was conceived to use many screens, but programmers get used to think on a single screen. So you need to reboot X-Window and all software which use it. I think problem lies more in Gnome or KDE, which save session data.
