[Bug 218663] Re: cups remote https administration hangs
I had the same problem today. Was bound to upgrade from 7.10 to 8.04 server because of no more repositories access. The Cups server, when I try to administer from remote, asks user/password then hangs forever. Lost a tremendous amount of time trying different configurations, reading manuals etc.etc. Many people seem to have the same problem but nobody seems to take seriously. (LTS = Long Time Sleep ?) But do we really need CUPS to manage printer spooler? Plz give us back old bsd printers and leave cups to paranhoic fellows so fond of security as to impair themselves from administering their own printers (this is the most secured indeed). -- cups remote https administration hangs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/218663 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 45997] Re: usb floppy + multi card reader doesn't work
The bug is still there. Nobody seems to care about it but: 1) it makes access to old documents and sources (those filed in floppy disks) almost impossible. When floppy is connected it is identified as "CITIZEN_X1DE_USB" after that it is not recognized as a block device. Shall I give up every hope of seeing it managed? It might be a malfunction related to some obscure aspects of firefox. I connected with "seamonkey" and could successfully administer the printer(s). Re: [Bug 155771] Re: sorry the update manager failed to install or upgrade
Thank you for your reply. At the time when I reported the bug I was updating from feisty to gutsy. I was not able to circumvent it, so I installed gutsy from the alternate install, planning to further investigate in the future. Unfortunately I was not able to reproduce the bug any more. At the moment I have no time (or better no big-enough-slice of time) to give some valuable help (And I am really very sorry of it). Thank you again. I hope I will be able to help in the future. [Bug 1390724] Re: Cups + cups-bsd not providing command line functionality
Solved with this workaround: 1) Install cups-pdf 2) Set cups-pdf as default printer (This builds the queue as expected) 3) Set the HPLIP printer as default printer. Now lpq shows the HPLIP printer queue as expected. Re: [Bug 1390724] Re: Cups + cups-bsd not providing command line functionality
I cannot check. I need more precise specifications of the packages (deb) you want tested. All I can say is that the bug appeared after upgrading (with reinstall) from ubuntu 12.04 to 14.04. I have some Debian "wheezy" installed in several different phisical computers and "virtual-boxes" where there isn't that problem.
