Emmet, I'd say the bug is not fully resolved yet. 1 and 3 were the issues, haven't had an issue with 2 myself. For 1, it fails at step F (on my Nokia phone, I get "Sending Failed" message). [Bug 335644] Re: Audio replaced with static
One of my recent updates resulted in the same thing. I'm relieved that the solution is to just to raise the PCM volume. I have had this before when I had upgraded to Intrepid, and couldn't find a resolution so did a clean re-install to get sound working again. I was scared I would have to reinstall again. I faced similar problem with Gutsy RC installation - I selected Firefox in the list of applications to migrate, and got the same error message. [Bug 72033] Re: Install gnome-bluetooth by default to enable receiving files via bluetooth
Changed the summary and description, and set the status to New. This issue is present in Gutsy. ** Summary changed: - Can't transfer files from mobile to pc via Bluetooth in Gnome + Install gnome-bluetooth by default to enable receiving files via bluetooth ** Description changed: - Binary package hint: gnome-bluetooth + Receiving files via bluetooth doesn't work unless gnome-obex-server is + running, which is provided by the gnome-bluetooth package. This package + itself is in Universe. The package should be promoted to main, and + installed by default (atleast if bluetooth hardware is detected, as + suggested in bug 120865). - Referring to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bluetooth/TestPlan + Also, whenever bluetooth is enabled (as when pressing the bluetooth + button on the laptop), gnome-obex-server should be run automatically so + that file receiving can work seamlessly. - Tried to send an image from mobile to pc, the transfer stucks at 0% and - then fails. No file transfered. This occurs only with Gnome, with KDE - all works perfectly in the two directions. - - Mobile model: Samsung Z140-V - - Laptop: Asus M6Ne - - Dongle model: D-Link DBT-120 (from lsusb command: Bus 002 Device 004: ID 0a12:0001 Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd Bluetooth Dongle (HCI mode)) + Currently, a user has to enable Universe, install gnome-bluetooth and then every time run gnome-obex-server (Accessories > Bluetooth File Sharing) before they can receive files. These steps can be eliminated for a smoother experience. ** Changed in: gnome-bluetooth (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New -- Install gnome-bluetooth by default to enable receiving files via bluetooth https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/72033 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 153727] Re: Ethernet device's number increases by one after every reboot
I don't have much knowledge of this stuff, but Windows XP is able to detect the MAC address correctly (and it is the same every time) - so probably it's not a hardware fault? It appears this bug is affecting almost everyone using Acer Aspire 4520. [Bug 67256] Re: "-generic" kernel doesn't boot in Gutsy on some occasions, freezes at the splash screen and then drops to initramfs prompt
I have updated the summary to reflect the current state - as already mentioned in the comments the problem is present in the Gutsy release as well. Also in my case it is a fresh install (starting from Gutsy RC), so I removed the "upgrade" part from the summary. Please let me know what other information I can provide. ** Summary changed: - "-generic" kernel doesn't boot after upgrade to Edgy prerelease (but -386 does) + "-generic" kernel doesn't boot in Gutsy on some occasions, freezes at the splash screen and then drops to initramfs prompt -- "-generic" kernel doesn't boot in Gutsy on some occasions, freezes at the splash screen and then drops to initramfs prompt https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/67256 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 67256] Re: Failure to mount root filesystem, cause unknown
Some additional information after reading a few threads in forums: The issue seems to be with various Acer Aspire models. Also, some mention in a thread that disabling acpi during boot fixes the problem (acpi=0). However, that is not a feasible option for laptops. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=3899110#post3899110 Perhaps the problem is with Acer acpi? -- Failure to mount root filesystem, cause unknown https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/67256 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

et59, for sound, try installing the package linux-backports-modules-generic. [Bug 179618] During "Get from Web ", griffith window keeps stealing focus
Public bug reported: Steps: Click on Add Enter a title, click on "Get from Web" Select a title from the list of matches displayed Switch to a different window Result: griffith window keeps grabbing the focus, and causes interruptions if you're working with something else while it gets the info from Web. This happens again if you switch back to the window, as long as the fetching is in progress. Expected result: griffith should quietly fetch the info from Web, and not try to become the active window. [Bug 179623] Make "Get from Web" button a default action if title is entered
Public bug reported: When adding a new movie, we enter the title and the obvious next step is to retrieve the movie info from Web.
