update: the good. other than the first install and reboot it has work well. the typical. when i reboot the system the speakers have to be power cycled to re-connect each time or go to bluetooth and ask for a reconnect. The mouse connects automatically most of the time. On the not connect, a power cycle is required to get it to reconnect not a reboot or a suspend. The power cycle includes pulling the power plug. hello in bionic i also tried to get systemd.resolve and dnsmasq working the /etc/default/lxc-net setup the dnsmasq using ultimately creating the dnsmasq shown below the config did assign static and dynamic ip's to the containers however i could not access dynamic addresses by name. so i added to /etc/systemd/resolv.conf attached below. that worked with the effect of the cpu utilization. it seemed to jump up after i went to the net and was not accessing the containers on 10.0.3.x as if systemd-resolve was sending queries to the dnsmasq in a loop.. please look at global section has 10.0.3.1 as the dns server and that doesn't look right. it is placed by /etc/systemd/resolv.conf ps ax: dnsmasq --conf-file=/etc/lxc/dnsmasq.conf -s lxc -S /lxc/ -u lxc-dnsmasq --strict-order --bind-interfaces --pid-file=/run/lxc/dnsmasq.pid --listen-address 10.0.3.1 --dhcp-range 10.0.3.128,10.0.3.254 --dhcp-lease-max=253 --dhcp-no-override --except-interface=lo --interface=lxcbr0 --dhcp-leasefile=/var/lib/misc/dnsmasq.lxcbr0.leases --dhcp-authoritative with :/etc/systemd/resolv.conf [Resolve] #DNS= DNS=10.0.3.1 #FallbackDNS= #Domains= Domains=lxc #LLMNR=no #MulticastDNS=no #DNSSEC=no #Cache=yes i was also watching tcpdump on llxcbr0 which had no activity after a while the systemd-resolve climbed approaching 100% with dnsmasq 50% netstat -nlp Active Internet connections (only servers) Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State PID/Program name tcp0 0 0.0.0.0:22 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 1643/sshd tcp0 0 127.0.0.1:631 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 1263/cupsd tcp0 0 10.0.3.1:53 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 2518/dnsmasq tcp6 0 0 :::22 :::*LISTEN 1643/sshd tcp6 0 0 ::1:631 :::*LISTEN 1263/cupsd udp14592 0 0.0.0.0:53530.0.0.0:* 1399/avahi-daemon: udp0 0 0.0.0.0:22168 0.0.0.0:* - udp0 0 0.0.0.0:66700.0.0.0:* - udp0 0 0.0.0.0:56840 0.0.0.0:* - udp0 0 0.0.0.0:62910 0.0.0.0:* - udp0 0 0.0.0.0:48051 0.0.0.0:* 1399/avahi-daemon: udp13824 0 10.0.3.1:53 0.0.0.0:* 2518/dnsmasq udp 9216 0 127.0.0.53:53 0.0.0.0:* 1007/systemd-resolv udp10240 0 0.0.0.0:67 0.0.0.0:* 2518/dnsmasq udp0 0 0.0.0.0:68 0.0.0.0:* 6025/dhclient udp0 0 0.0.0.0:631 0.0.0.0:* 1481/cups-browsed udp64608 0 :::5353 :::* 1399/avahi-daemon: udp6 0 0 :::59159:::* 1399/avahi-daemon: raw6 0 0 :::58 :::*7 5918/NetworkManager Active UNIX domain sockets (only servers) /etc/resolv.conf: is under systemd link # This file is managed by man:systemd-resolved(8). [Bug 1402335] Re: scanimage -L finds fitjitsu 04c5:11fc but if repeated does not find it
tried on an older system76 gazel ubuntu 12.04.5 the usb3 have xhci and do not work. the usb2 is on ehci and works the new system 76 gnome 14.04.1 appears to have all 3 usb's (2 are usb3, 1 is usb2) which are on xhci. To me this is indicating the xhci driver is not doing the correct thing since 12.04.5. [Bug 1974063] Re: system load indicator does not show memory usage, ignoring preferences
I concur with Anthony Chubb's comments, which were indeed the original impetus that motivated me to begin tinkering with the indicator width in the first.place. I forgot to mention this in the wake of the more catastrophic problems that occurred when I tried to change the width. But had these symptoms not existed, I never would have bothered messing with the width. My ideal state would be to see the "Mem: 6.2 GB" text that I used to see, and not flickering. As to my Question 2 above, I did discover that this setting was maintained in dconf under the key of /de/mh21/indicator-multiload/, as indicated in my link above. Navigating there, I was able to change the width back to 40 and reinstall the indicator without breaking the system. However, I only see the graphical display, which is better than nothing, but not ideal, and it does flicker. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1974063 Title: system load indicator does not show memory usage, ignoring preferences To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-multiload/+bug/1974063/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1970124] Re: duplicity backup fails with obscure error message Ubuntu 22.04
Might I ask why the admins have marked this bug as "Invalid" and unassigned to anyone? Does this mean that no one will look at it anymore? I feel that this action should be explained. That said, I have taken the step of eliminating previous backups and now the system works again and the information Kenneth provided was helpful in leading me there, although I do question the Samba theory for reasons stated above. I feel that at minimum duplicity should issue a more informative error message, indicating perhaps the name of the file that actually has the truncation problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1970124 Title: duplicity backup fails with obscure error message Ubuntu 22.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/duplicity/+bug/1970124/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1970124] Re: duplicity backup fails with obscure error message Ubuntu 22.04
I have one idea, based on my experience yesterday. I renamed the /home/scohen/Taormina directory and then created a new directory of that name on the remote drive. A quick check of disk space informed me that I would not have enough room for a full backup on the remote drive. So I looked more closely and saw that there were a lot of very old backups under another directory that I could easily do without on the drive, and deleted those, ran the backup successfully. My idea is this: what happens if there is not enough room to complete the backup on the intended drive? What error message does duplicity give in that case? I have no memory of any particular error message on 2021/10/07, though I do remember a problem, and being unable to solve it then, I simply gave up on backups for awhile, which I hoped to get back to with 22.04. My idea is that this situation could lead to a truncated backup file, and if the error message were not clear, confusion on the part of the user. If a backup fails due to lack of disk space on the destination, a specific error message to that effect would be useful. I don't know if that's what happened here but it could be.

Kenneth: First, thank you! I don't run duplicity via the command line. I run it using the Ubuntu GUI app "Backups" which I believe is just a gui-name for deja-dup. In that setup I have a saved Preferences which governs how the Backup is done, which files/directories to back up, which to exclude, where to send the backup, etc. Trying duplicity -v9 fails with $ duplicity -v9 Command line error: Expected 2 args, got 0 Enter 'duplicity --help' for help screen. Evidently, the deja-dup app is saving this information in a config file somewhere and then building a command line to send to duplicity. I don't see how to invoke duplicity so as to use these config files, whose location I don't know either. So, next step is to try to invoke the debugging via a deja-dup command line. I try this (per deja-dup --help): $deja-dup --gtk-debug=9 > log and it starts the GUI, producing the same failure message; however nothing is appended to the log file, so evidently --gtk-debug=9 in deja-dup is not equivalent to duplicity -v9. Finally, using the Google, I find that the way to turn logging on for deja-dup is DEJA_DUP_DEBUG=1 deja-dup Redirecting this to log does indeed produce a massive file. Hopefully, this is what you are looking for. If not please let me know how to 1) run duplicity so that my deja-dup preferences are used or 2) run deja-dup to produce the input you want. log head and tail will be attached.

H. Many questions. The networked machine is an old desktop running a very old version of Ubuntu. There is no Windows involved here, and no mount so I'm not understanding where Samba comes into the picture. As I said in the original statement of the bug, I am connecting via the SSH protocol, so I am not entirely sure where the question of mounting a drive comes in. If I do mount a drive from the other machine, would this solve my problem and enable backups to finish, and if so, what protocol should I then set up duplicity to use? Or would another of the available duplicity protocols work better for me? Even more puzzling, a directory listing of the troublesome file shows it is < 2GB in size by a factor of 16 or so: -rw-rw-r-- 1 scohen scohen 262180864 Oct 7 2021 duplicity-full- signatures.20211007T135951Z.sigtar.gz I suppose truncation might have occurred to a size well < 2GB. Also, why is this file so big? In looking over the earlier output, I appear to be backing up a lot of old junk that no longer requires backup or even existence. Would eliminating some of it help me? Or, since I have no need of earlier backups, might I be well served by simply erasing everything in the Taormina directory of the backup drive and starting over? [Bug 2055835] Re: GRUB 2025 spring security update
My system (Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS) would not allow this fix to be installed. [Bug 2109907] Re: Grub Spring 2025 update cannot be installed
This bug should probably go against the GUI Software Updates app. At the suggestion of someone else, I tried to install it with apt on the command line. It worked! sudo apt update grub-efi-amd64-signed succeeded in installing the update and Software Updates no longer thinks there's anything to be updated. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2109907 Title: Grub Spring 2025 update cannot be installed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2-unsigned/+bug/2109907/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
