[Bug 155869] Re: deskbar-applet crashed with IOError in connect()
I'm running gutsy on a laptop, which is not always connected to a network, but as it is most of the time, i've activated the yahoo search plugin (see attached settings dialog). As long as I have a network connection, this works fine, with the network cable pulled, it crashes. Steps to reproduce: 0. make sure the network connection works 1. activate the Yahoo Search plugin 2. open the deskbar search an type your query 3. everything is fine 4. pull the network cable 5. search again 6. Bug Buddy pops up an reports the crash A workaround is to deactivate the plugin if not online, but I think it should just gracefully handle the connection problem as i do not want to change the configuration everytime i go on- or offline. -- deskbar-applet crashed with IOError in connect() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/155869 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

could'nt there be a kind of a check if the preferred application is set to the default, and if not just ask during upgrade what to do, with a warning that it may be that the path to the current application has changed. If I change config files in /etc, I'm also asked if I want to keep my changes or accept the config of the maintainer.
