i checked that there was no other instance running, further
investigation showed that it only happens while connected via wireless,

To check the dbus-launch way, I need more instructions on how to test
it.

gnome2-private/Evolution) folder didn't work either and after setting it
up manually, i have the following:

actually sorted into different other folders already :-(

[Bug 155869] Re: deskbar-applet crashed with IOError in connect()

2007-10-23 Thread René Brandenburger
I'm running gutsy on a laptop, which is not always connected to a
network, but as it is most of the time, i've activated the yahoo search
plugin (see attached settings dialog). As long as I have a network
connection, this works fine, with the network cable pulled, it crashes.

Steps to reproduce:
0. make sure the network connection works
1. activate the Yahoo Search plugin
2. open the deskbar search an type your query
3. everything is fine
4. pull the network cable
5. search again
6. Bug Buddy pops up an reports the crash

A workaround is to deactivate the plugin if not online, but I think it
should just gracefully handle the connection problem as i do not want to
change the configuration everytime i go on- or offline.

[Bug 156194] tracker-tag not transactional

Binary package hint: tracker

On my Laptop, trackerd is sometimes quite unresponsive while indexing,
which leads to tracker-tag --add requests with multiple files to

me with the keyword applied twice to the file.

them. During this time, i'm not able to tag this file. Ideally, tracker-
tag would add the file to the tracker index if i request to tag it.

[Bug 83154] Re: ms-tnef attachment not readable

could you please add the dependency on ytnef in the packaged plugin?
Yesterday I removed some software from my laptop and, after removing
ytnef (synaptic did not complain about it) the plugin stopped working.
After reinstalling, everything is fine again.

Binary package hint: evolution

I have a Searchfolder hierarchy to keep things organized.
If I select "mark as read" from the context menue, evolution asks if it should
be performed on the folder or on the folder and its subfolders.
Selecting the subfolders option, nothing really happens, all mails stay unread.

OK, did a

$ sudo apt-get install --reinstall python-vte

update-manager works fine after reboot. To get the same situation as
when the crash happened, i need to wait untill the update-manager asks
me to reboot and I initiate a reboot by clicking on the symbol of the
update-manager in the notification area. Is there an easy way to let the
update-manager request a reboot?

2007-10-06 Thread René Brandenburger
create two searchfolders , the first one called test/folder1, the second
one test/folder2, make sure that some unread mails are listed in these
These show up as

test
   |
   +-- folder1 (2)
   |
   +-- folder2 (5)

now, select test, right click and select "mark as read"
a dialog box pops up asking weather i want to mark all mails in test as read or
recursively through all subfolders.
select the recursive option
the dialog closes, nothing really happens, the mail stays unread :-(

[Bug 212828] Re: open link in browser from evolution does not open Firefox after upgrade

2008-04-08 Thread René Brandenburger
hmmm, i can't remember having set the preferred application, i upgraded
gutsy (where there is no firefox 3) to hardy and did not touch that
setting. If upgrading to hardy changed that, than an update to the
package should also take care of that, so I still consider it a bug.

[Bug 212828] Re: open link in browser from evolution does not open Firefox after upgrade

2008-04-09 Thread René Brandenburger
could'nt there be a kind of a check if the preferred application is set
to the default, and if not just ask during upgrade what to do, with a
warning that it may be that the path to the current application has
changed. If I change config files in /etc, I'm also asked if I want to
keep my changes or accept the config of the maintainer.

Another thing is, that if the preferred application can not be launched,
a Message should be shown to the user, as I've seen the message only on
the console.

* add several tags, comma separated to the file like aa, bb, cc
notice the after the commy, as is good practice in typing

[Bug 206239] Re: system monitor doesn't sort by %cpu

2008-04-28 Thread René Brandenburger
seems like it's happening after some changes occur. If the box is busy
with lots of different processes, the order is almost immediately wrong,
if the box is mostly idleing it takes a longer time to get the sorting
wrong.

[Bug 223738] [NEW] [WishList] make tracker image content aware

2008-04-28 Thread René Brandenburger
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tracker

it would be nice if tracker could also take into account image color and
texture characteristics for searching images.
this could be achieved by calculating image features for content based image
retrieval while indexing. An existing java/lucene based approach is LIRE
(http://www.semanticmetadata.net/lire/).

[Bug 217797] Re: [WishList] Visibility of tasks

2008-05-08 Thread René Brandenburger
with evolution 2.22.1.1, I have only one way to hide completed tasks, it's by
going through
edit->preferences->Calendar & Tasks -> Display->Hide completed Tasks after.
after selecting this, there is no way to show the completed tasks again without
deselcting that option.

the "Show" dropdown box lets me select the "completed tasks", but this
does not show the tasks hidden by the "Hide completed tasks" option.

2007-08-14 Thread René Brandenburger
ok, I retried it with the attached text
* created a new note
* pasted the text into it
* open the gnome system monitor and search for the tomboy process
* select the whole text
* press ctrl-c to copy the text to the clipboard

the used cpu time goes up by 4 minutes and 20 sec. according to the system
monitor.
feisty with all updates applied.

[Bug 182276] postinstall script fails

2008-01-12 Thread René Brandenburger
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: dtc

on a clean 7.10 server install, the last step of installing dtc-toaster
fails with

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# /usr/share/dtc/admin/install/install

...
...
Creating chroot shell script...
-> Fixup rights
-> Managing ldconfig
exec: 17: /sbin/ldconfig.real: not found

the following tip from http://forums.gplhost.com/phpBB2/image-
vp4081.html helped

Add an asterisk after "ldconfig" in functions.php to see if it helps.

You can find functions.php under /usr/share/dtc/admin/install/
directory.

Search for "ldconfig" (around line 3131) Modify as follow:-

# copy ldconfig from sbin to $conf_chroot_path/sbin
if ! [ $UNIX_TYPE"" = "osx" ] ; then
cp -pf /sbin/ldconfig* sbin/
fi

Run /usr/share/dtc/admin/install/install again.

it would be nice if this could be fixed in the packages
