[Bug 205783] Re: pam-encfs fails on upgrade to Hardy

2008-10-09 Thread Kjetil Kjernsmo
I got my hardy system patched OK, but I would say that for this package,
this is an extremely important bug. Can someone set the importance
accordingly?

If this works in Debian, would it be possible at this point to import
the Debian package?

[Bug 415373] [NEW] linux-image-2.6.28-14-generic locks up when trying to hibernate

2009-08-18 Thread Kjetil Kjernsmo
Public bug reported:

I'm trying to configure my laptop, which is a Compal HGL30 with a nVidia
Geforce Go 7600 graphics card to hibernate but I'm experiencing severe
problems when trying to do so.

The main symptom is that the laptop fails to hibernate, it just locks
up, with some console text on the screen. In the kern.log, I see
messages such as:

BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 61s! [kwin:4213]

(I'll post the full logs as attachments in a minute). Since it says
pretty clearly that it is a bug, I submit it.

[Bug 42965] Re: Can't add a printer in KDE: parser error?

2006-09-16 Thread Kjetil Kjernsmo
I had the same problem a little while ago. I solved my problem by
reinstalling the driver manually, and it turned out that there was a new
driver that was recommended.

Also, I ended up validating all the XML files on my system by running

for file in `locate foomatic | grep '\.xml'`; do xmllint --noout $file ;
done

as it seemed to me that the file was well-formed, and none of these
files had errors. Which is kinda weird, since both xmllint and foomatic
uses the same parser. The parse error didn't seem to matter, though,
which leads me to think that the parse error and the driver problem are
two unrelated problems.

[Bug 203009] [NEW] synergys crashes when pasting URL into browser

2008-03-16 Thread Kjetil Kjernsmo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: synergy

I created this with reportbug, but that went in a hole it seems? Here it
is:

Package: synergy
Version: 1.3.1-2ubuntu2
Severity: important

I'm using synergy with a newly installed hardy box with KDE4 as server
and a gutsy box with KDE3 as client.

If I mark a URL on the gutsy box and attempt to paste that URL into an
Opera window (which would cause Opera to GET the resource), synergys
on the hardy box crashes reproducably.

I think I have seen by pasting elsewhere too, but that has not been 100%
reproduceable, so to debug it is probably the best to try this: Mark URL
with mouse on the client system, go to an Opera window on the server,
paste it with the mouse wheel into the main window. That crashes
synergys 100% reproduceable to me.

In my logs, I see stuff like:

Mar 14 10:17:28 tigger kernel: [82259.555652] synergys[18750]:

I went into the libc6 trap with this box yesterday, but downgraded
trivially, so I wouldn't think that's related.

[Bug 121285] Soft lockup when starting iwlwifi

2007-06-19 Thread Kjetil Kjernsmo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.20-16-generic

Since ipw3945 doesn't work on my Compal HGL30
(due to the wireless kill switch issue
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=246074 ), I've been experimenting with
the new iwlwifi driver, which I found to be in the 2.6.20 Ubuntu kernels (nice!)

I've seen this problem twice now, the last time just after bootup. I go

modprobe -r ipw3945
modprobe -r iwlwifi

to start from scratch. When I go

modprobe iwlwifi

After a few seconds, iwlwifi takes 100% CPU, the computer becomes
unresponsive to keyboard input, then after a while becomes unresponsive
to anything.

Ubuntu!

H, I think that's hard... The system in question is now my main work
system and I don't have the time to back it up and reinstall, nor do I
have a system right now I can try another install. So, I'm afraid
that's hard...

Presumably, the crash is related to the hardware I have, a Compal HGL30
notebook. It was 100% reproducible on this system, but I have not tried
any other systems. And it did turn out to be as simple as I described
in my original report, clicking "new partition" when "free space" was
not highlighted. If this works for you, then I would simply close the
bug.

Cheers,

Kjetil

Yup, there was a crash report dialog telling me to file a bug and attach

If it is likely that the logs are kept on the finished system, please

is the long-term-support release... :-)

[Bug 454113] Re: digikam crashes when click on download selected

2009-12-06 Thread Kjetil Kjernsmo
This is exactly the kind of situation I was hoping to avoid by running
Ubuntu. The Sid packages can't be installed cleanly without updating
e.g. phonon to unstable, with the possible adverse consequences that may
have on the stability of such a critical part of the system. Please, can
we have digikam_1.0.0~rc-1 in karmic-updates? The bug is reported at
least twice a day to upstream, and we owe them that we fix bugs in
updates when we use betas, we're now taking resources away from
development and into bug management. That's bad.

[Bug 454113] Re: digikam crashes when click on download selected

2009-11-29 Thread Kjetil Kjernsmo
Upstream just posted the following comment to their bug tracker:

"PLAAASE UBUNTU:
If you decide to add a beta version into your stable release, PLEEEASE
at least update the packages now. Beta6 has been released nearly three weeks
ago.
I'm really annoyed marking this bug 10 times a day as a duplicate..."

It sounds like it would be a good idea to have beta6 urgently in karmic-
updates, since fewer will notice a backport.

[Bug 474062] [NEW] kmail crashes when composing message

2009-11-04 Thread Kjetil Kjernsmo
Public bug reported:

This bug is about 9.10, libenchant1c2a 1.5.0-0ubuntu2

When I open kmail and click to respond to a message, Kontact crashes
immediately. I looked in the trace, and found that it had something to
do with the spell checker, and and found that sonnetrc had something to
do with it.

I had defaultLanguage=nb and when I changed that to defaultLanguage=en, I could
open the composer with no problems. If I manually change the dictionary to nb,
it crashes in a similar manner.
I first reported this as a Kmail bug:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=212890
but the KDE developers suggest that it is an enchant bug instead. I have
installed the debug package for enchant, and the stack trace is included.

As a KDE dev notes, we have a messy situation here, that we have two
written languages nb and nn, and they are also both denoted no. I don't
know if this is a cause of the problems.

[Bug 1706274] Re: html2xhtml produces invald XML for MS Office HTML output

2017-09-14 Thread Kjetil Kjernsmo
I'm not 100% sure, since this module is a parser and not a serializer,
but it appears HTML::HTML5::Parser is just building a DOM, and the
serialization is then done by XML::LibXML. Therefore, it seems likely
the bug is indeed in HTML::HTML5::Parser.

The upstream bug tracker is at
https://rt.cpan.org/Public/Dist/Display.html?Name=HTML-HTML5-Parser
but unfortunately, it doesn't see a lot of attention these days. Nevertheless,
please submit upstream.

I'm not a maintainer, so it doesn't bring us much closer to a solution though.
Just did it since I have a fork :-)

[Bug 1570112] [NEW] Spec change causes breakage

2016-04-13 Thread Kjetil Kjernsmo
Public bug reported:

RDF::LDF tracks the work-in-progress W3C Hydra specification, and a
change to the specification caused all existing clients and servers to
break. This module is one of the clients that broke.

The upstream issue is this: https://github.com/phochste/RDF-LDF/issues/18
Upstream fixed the issue immediately too. I am 99% certain the commit can be
applied cleanly to the version in xenial.

I realize this is very late in the release cycle, but the current
package is not likely to be of any use, so I'm hoping it can be patched.

[Bug 1433002] [NEW] Sync librdf-linkeddata-perl 0.74-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2015-03-17 Thread Kjetil Kjernsmo
Public bug reported:

Hi!

I'm the upstream developer of this package, and I hope you can sync to
the latest package in Debian Sid, which is a pure bugfix release. I'm in
the fortunate position that others devs are starting to use my software,
and they discovered a bug and submitted a patch. The diff from 0.72 to
0.74 is just a bugfix, to a bug that is more embarrassing than severe,
but still, I hope this bug won't be in Vivid. Therefore, updating has
only upsides and no downsides.

Here's the changelog:

librdf-linkeddata-perl (0.74-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * [ upstream ]

+ Fix the template to be Hydra compliant.

Please sync librdf-query-perl 2.908-1 (universe) from Debian testing
(main)

This package currently tracks the development of the SPARQL 1.1
standard, currently at last call with the W3C. It is written by a
working group member and is one of two implementations that passes all
tests as of this release. There has been some changes since last
version, but they have all gone to improve the package. I therefore
hope it will be accepted in Precise.

Changelog entries since current precise version 2.907-1:

librdf-query-perl (2.908-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * New upstream release.

  [ gregor herrmann ]
  * Remove debian/source/local-options; abort-on-upstream-changes and
unapply-patches are default in dpkg-source since 1.16.1.

  [ Jonas Smedegaard ]
  * Update short and long descriptions to match upstream.
  * Update package relations:
+ Stop recommending or build-depending on librdf-perl: Only
optionally (and possibly bogusly) used in regression tests, not in
  production code.
+ Relax build-dependency on cdbs (needlessly tight).
+ Relax build-depend unversioned on debhelper and devscripts (needed
  versions satisfied even in oldstable).

[Bug 1042430] [NEW] Sync librdf-linkeddata-perl 0.56-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2012-08-27 Thread Kjetil Kjernsmo
Public bug reported:

Please sync librdf-linkeddata-perl 0.56-1 (universe) from Debian
unstable (main)

I'm the upstream developer of this package, and 0.54 was fairly buggy,
both my code and the package, actually. It was rushed before the
Debian freeze deadline. I'm committed to support 0.56 for a long time
to come, as it most likely is the final release before I go into a
more experimental direction. It is therefore important that 0.56 is
the version Ubuntu users get. Two of the bugs fixed in this release
should be considered release critical.

Changelog entries since current quantal version 0.54-1:

librdf-linkeddata-perl (0.56-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * New upstream release:
+ More tests.
+ Fix major UTF8 breakage by encoding all strings.
+ Fix performance problems by stat-ing the external VoID-file to see
  if needs reloading.
+ Fix performance problems caused by regeneration of VoID
  descriptions for every request.
+ Improve the way different HTML serializations are returned.
+ Skip some tests when Redland is installed, causes test-specific
  bugs.
+ Some cosmetic fixes.

  * Re-enable testsuite.
  * Update package relations:
+ Build-depend on (not only recommend/suggest) libconfig-jfdi-perl,
  libplack-middleware-crossorigin-perl, librdf-endpoint-perl,
  libjson-perl, librdf-generator-void-perl and
  librdf-rdfa-parser-perl: Needed for testsuite.

[Bug 917525] [NEW] Sync librdf-trine-perl 0.137-1 (universe) from Debian testing (main)

2012-01-16 Thread Kjetil Kjernsmo
Public bug reported:

Seems like Debian is having some problems with changelogs at the moment,
so let me just summarize the changes. I'm using this package actively
and also submit patches now and then, so I know it well.

To 0.136 it was a number of feature additions, but none very intrusive. 0.137
is an important maintenance release with a number of
bug fixes and a reworked and updated test suite. It migrated to Debian testing
just hours before the sync. So, this release really should
make it into precise, I hope you will sync it.

This package is a mature module for working with Resource Description

[Bug 925705] Re: Sync librdf-helper-perl 2.0-1 (universe) from Debian testing (main)

2012-02-02 Thread Kjetil Kjernsmo
Oh, ouch! Actually, I managed to reproduce it on my own system now. Very
weird, it has 241 passes on CPAN and no failures... I'll investigate.

  * Imported Upstream version 0.138.
  * Drop fix_pod_spelling.patch, applied upstream.

[Bug 803170] Re: 4store version 1.1.3-1 failed to build on i386

could it possibly be trying to use Raptor 1 instead of Raptor 2? If so,
could this possibly depend on Bug #787160?

[Bug 806875] [NEW] Please sync librdf-rdfa-generator-perl from debian unstable

2011-07-07 Thread Kjetil Kjernsmo
Public bug reported:

Upstream RDF::RDFa::Generator 0.102 contains two important (well, one
important, one trivial) bugfixes. It is now packaged for Debian Sid, and
I would highly recommend to sync it. It is a pure bugfix-release, so
synching will have no adverse effects.
