[Bug 298481] [NEW] Problem booting raid 1 since upgrading to intrepid (uuid missing)
Public bug reported: When booting, the system cannot find the /dev/disk-by-uuid for the root fs, and drops me to busybox. On checking /dev/disk-by-uuid is missing the UUID symlink for my raid 1 root, however the raid is up and running and available on /dev/md0 This has happened during a few reboots recently, and I have had to pull the machine from the cupboard to see why it wasnt booting. Normally a few resets and eventually it will work. I have a longer than needed rootdelay too, but this does not seem the factor since if i set my grub to boot from /dev/md0 everything is fine. just when it is set to the raid 1 fs uuid I get the problem Current the raid is in degraded mode, but this has happened recently the raid was not degraded also. ** Affects: mdadm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Problem booting raid 1 since upgrading to intrepid (uuid missing) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/298481 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 227705] [NEW] hdparm not being triggered with udev
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: hdparm Since hdparm was switched from init.d to being triggered by udev it has stopped working on my machine. Originally I thought it was the missing rule for /dev/sdx disks but even with that change (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hdparm/+bug/156893) it is not working right. The bigger problem is I have no idea how to debug it, since nothing is outputted on boot in regards to it. I assume it is ran during the initramfs stage? How should I check to see why it is not working? my /etc/hdparm.conf has 4 lines like /dev/disk/by-uuid/---- { spindown_time = 30 apm = 1 } and the problem is that the disks are not spinning down. This used to work fine when hdparm was run from init.d I also tried using /dev/sda1 etc in case the /by-uuid symlinks were not available at the stage udev is triggering hdparm, but it made no difference. However I need to reference the disks by uuid (or label) as they may not always be on the same device. I thought the problem might also be to do with the disks being set to power on in standby mode, however after a reboot when they are spun up, the problem still occurs. Another issue related to this is that there is no easy way to test your hdparm.conf. Before you could manually run the init.d script but this is no longer possible. I think this is not ideal, as hdparm configs can be quite complex, and a missing space between keyword and value etc can cause problems. ** Affects: hdparm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- hdparm not being triggered with udev https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/227705 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 106821] Re: smartmontools/smartctl does not work on SATA drives on Linux Kernel 2.6.20-15.27
I build a 2.6.21-rc6 kernel from kernel.org and tried it. The smart stuff is working fine. It was also working on an earlier kernel. I should try a stock 2.6.20 kernel to see if it's something specific to ubuntu causing the problem. -- smartmontools/smartctl does not work on SATA drives on Linux Kernel 2.6.20-15.27 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/106821 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 84480] Re: power button is ignored by acpi scripts when running kpowersave
KPowersave 0.7.2 just went into feisty. This version does have support for button events. However afaik Klaptop does not. [Bug 84480] power button is ignored by acpi scripts when running kpowersave
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: acpi-support The power button is ignored by the acpi-support scripts when kpowersave is running. However kpowersave does not have any capability to manage what happens when power button is pressed. It can handle lid events though. from /etc/acpi/powerbtn.sh # If gnome-power-manager, kpowersave or klaptopdaemon are running, let # them handle policy This is effectively the same as 'acpi-support's # '/usr/share/acpi-support/policy-funcs' file. I would argue that letting kpowersave handle something that it can't handle is not the best idea. Unless I have missed something ? ** Affects: acpi-support (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- power button is ignored by acpi scripts when running kpowersave https://launchpad.net/bugs/84480 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 57849] Re: Add keycodes for wireless button on Acer Travelmate 8100 (fix included)
the file /usr/share/hotkey-setup/acer-aspire-1600.hk is also suitable for the travelmate-8100 series. I also un-commented the Wireless On/Off keys in this file. Why are they commented out? It is very useful to be able to map the "wireless on" button to something like "kdesu ifup wlan0" so, on my system i copy /usr/share/hotkey-setup/acer-aspire-1600.hk to /usr/share/hotkey-setup/acer-travelmate-8100.hk uncomment the wireless lines. and in /etc/init.d/hotkey-setup i added an entry into the Acer case. [Bug 57849] Re: Add keycodes for wireless button on Acer Travelmate 8100
Sorry. Ignore last patch. this is a working one. Of course, other laptops from acer might also share these keys, so it might be better to add them into the generic acer one? ** Attachment added: "Fixed patch for hotkey-setup" http://librarian.launchpad.net/5851312/hotkey-setup-fixed.diff -- Add keycodes for wireless button on Acer Travelmate 8100 https://launchpad.net/bugs/57849 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 57849] Re: Add keycodes for wireless button on Acer Travelmate 8100
> (a) the wifi switching is handled in hardware already on my laptop, in addition to sending a keycode it "turns on/off" the wireless, but this is not particularly useful unless you have some script constantly watching for it (It's not switched on/off in a way which is hotplug compatible) and then "ifupping" the interface. it doesn't work right with ifplugd anyway, as it doesn't "detect" when it is on. ifplugd will happily ifdown it though. > (b) We don't have anything 'standard' to map them to >Did you map the key to anything, or just leave it as is? I forgot to mention that in my last message but i show it in the initial report. I mapped them to F13 and F14. [Bug 73788] Re: Network profiles completely broken
I am running feisty and network profiles do indeed seem broken. Configure eth0 interface to 192.168.1.10 Create a new profile "test". Click apply. KNetwork conf then saves the current ip config to Test? (It's unclear - save selected doesnt seem to do anything?) Create another profile "Test2" and change ip for eth0 to 192.168.1.20 Save save selected (nothing seems to happen) and apply. you get a message saving profile. Hover over both network profiles to see that they have both now got the ip address 192.168.1.20! Network profiles do not seem to work. If I am going about it the wrong way then the bug is still valid as it is completely unintuitive. ** Changed in: kdeadmin (Ubuntu) Status: Unconfirmed => Confirmed -- Network profiles completely broken https://launchpad.net/bugs/73788 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
