[Bug 373889] Re: can no longer send files from nokia phones to PC via bluetooth

2009-05-14 Thread Irihapeti
You can add Nokia 6120 classic to the list.

I have the same problem in Hardy as well, though I'm not sure whether
it's because of the phone model or because I haven't set bluetooth up
correctly.

[Bug 373889] Re: can no longer send files from nokia phones to PC via bluetooth

2009-05-14 Thread Irihapeti
Thanks Ben

The relevant line from lsusb is:

Bus 002 Device 002: ID 0a12:0001 Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd Bluetooth
Dongle (HCI mode)

which is the same as the OP has.

Incidentally, if anyone can tell me what I need to get it working in
Hardy, I'd be grateful. I'm ok about applying patches and recompiling if
that's what it takes.

[Bug 373889] Re: can no longer send files from nokia phones to PC via bluetooth

2009-05-14 Thread Irihapeti
philipp:

Mine is already set up that way, and I still can't send files from the
phone to the computer. The phone takes about half a second to decide
that it can't do it.

Ben:

Thanks. I'd already discovered that I can browse the phone via
bluetooth. Unfortunately, I can't copy files to it using Nautilus (but I
can copy *from* the phone with Nautilus). If I use the usb cable, I can
copy both ways, but only to the add-on memory card, not the phone's "C
drive".

[Bug 409559] Re: version 1.6.0_15 is available

2009-08-10 Thread Irihapeti
The repository version of Firefox gets upgraded each time Mozilla puts
out a new one, even on older versions such as Hardy. I think that the
same thing should happen with Java.

There has already been one update to Java in Hardy, from 1.6.07 to
1.6.14, so it's not impossible.

I now boot into NimbleX 2008 liveCD when I want to transfer files from
my phone. It has a fully functioning bluetooth OOTB. Same kernel version
as Hardy, I believe. I wonder what they've done differently from Ubuntu
to get this to work.

[Bug 568127] [NEW] xserver crashes on EeePC 900 - Lucid

2010-04-21 Thread Irihapeti
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

X runs for a short while (some minutes, sometimes longer, then crashes
to a blank screen. Pressing an arrow key reveals a command-line screen.
Attempting to run 'startx' gets a message that x is still running.
Rebooting is the only remedy.

This is a minimal install with Openbox and xdm. Earlier in the
development cycle, it was very solid. Recently (a few weeks) it's been
exiting X unexpectedly. No particular pattern is apparent.

I installed the xserver version from ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates, which
is currently running, and it's made no difference.

[Bug 477256] Re: [i855] Xserver freezing on Toshiba Satellite A10 (Intel 82852/855GM)

2010-02-10 Thread Irihapeti
@Geir
I installed your libdrm version as mentioned in Bug 447892. Initially, I just
added the PPA to my sources.list and updated. That installed a total of four
upgraded packages, and my laptop locked up while I was running the repro.sh.

Then I downgraded the other three packages to the standard Ubuntu
versions, just leaving libdrm as your version. I have run the script a
number of times and I can't get the laptop to lock up.

I'll keep using it like this for a while and see what happens.

2010-02-11 Thread Irihapeti
The upgraded packages were libdrm-intel1, libdrm-nouveau1, libdrm-
radeon1, and libdrm2. I removed - downgraded, rather - the first three
and kept libdrm2. I figure that -nouveau1 and -radeon1 wouldn't be doing
anything on an intel system and that the problem was most likely to be
with -intel1.

Still no lockups so far.

[Bug 536673] Re: ubiquity crashed with InstallStepError in configure_hardware()

2010-04-27 Thread Irihapeti
Just testing 20100427.1 installation. I decided to emulate what a
newcomer might do: namely, try to install by double-clicking on the
installer icon, find it doesn't work and then try the --no-migration-
assistant option.

However, if I do that, migration-assistant is still active and can't be
killed. Therefore, the installation still chokes on the "unable to
unmount" stage. The only way around it is to reboot. Could that be
included in the release notes?

[Bug 570947] Re: OS prober chooses /dev/sdX notation when UUIDs requested

2010-04-27 Thread Irihapeti
I've marked the affected entry with <<--*This is the culprit.

It's an entry for Ubuntu 8.04.4 at the end of the OS prober entries.

The custom entry at the end is a workaround.

[Bug 568127] Re: xserver crashes on EeePC 900 - Lucid

2010-04-27 Thread Irihapeti
Update to previous message:

>From time to time, when using i915.modeset=0 option, I find that the
display becomes pixellated. That is, the lettering and objects are still
all there, but instead of being solid black, they will display as partly
black and partly coloured.

Logging out and in again fixes the issue - for a while, anyway. I've
been unable to figure out any specific thing that's causing this.

The same thing happens with kernel version 2.6.34-rc5.

I tried doing "apport-collect" with this kernel running, but Launchpad
complains about a non-standard kernel version.

[Bug 536673] Re: ubiquity crashed with InstallStepError in configure_hardware()

2010-04-29 Thread Irihapeti
I've just done an installation using the final image. I proceeded by
double-clicking on the "install Ubuntu" icon and chose the same options
as previously.

The migration assistant selected no options (maybe it should from my old
Hardy install; and I also have a Debian Testing one? However, it's been
doing that all along, and as I don't want to migrate anything, I hadn't
really paid attention to it - separate issue, anyway).

The installation completed successfully - no problems with unmountable
partitions.

[Bug 562742] Re: r8169 ethernet MAC address changes in 2.6.32 kernel

2010-04-29 Thread Irihapeti
@Tim:

Sorry, the machine is still exhibiting the same behaviour with your
kernel.

First boot: OK
Subsequent reboots, whether into the same kernel or another one, setting the
MAC address to 00:00:00:00:BD:D1
Reset by complete power off (at the wall or the back of the PC case).

Incidentally, I installed the mainline kernel 2.6.34-rc5 and it handles
the MAC address correctly again. I've had plenty of opportunity to test
this with all the live CD/install testing of the last 48 hours or so.

[Bug 524938] Re: Remove binary "opensync-plugin-syncml" from lucid

2010-04-30 Thread Irihapeti
@Beniamino
It's possible, though probably not recommended, to get the Karmic versions of
the packages libsoup-2.2, libsyncml0 and opensync-plugin-syncml and install
them manually. That's what I've done.

I hope that eventually a later version becomes available through
backports or a PPA. I don't have the technical expertise to run a PPA,
otherwise I might offer to.

I realise that I'm going to have some other problems then, because one
of the plugins I'm currently using (sunbird/lightning) has more or less
been abandoned. Nothing is ever simple, it seems. :)

[Bug 572751] [NEW] Upgraded to Lucid.Wine not running previously-installed programs

2010-04-30 Thread Irihapeti
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: wine

I'm running Wine from the PPA. Previously, I was running Wine in Hardy,
also from the PPA.

I actually did a clean install, not an upgrade, but I am using the same
/home partition and thus the same .wine directory. Wine recognises that
the programs are there, because they appear in the list if I choose the
'uninstall programs' option, but they don't show in the menu. Nor will
they run if I type "wine .exe" in a terminal.

[Bug 572751] Re: Upgraded to Lucid.Wine not running previously-installed programs

2010-05-01 Thread Irihapeti
winecfg in a terminal brings up the configuration application. I notice
that the history is appearing in the "drives" tag i.e. various USB
sticks that have been run at different times. There are no error
messages in the terminal.

If I try to run "wine winword.exe" (MS word 2000), I get the message:

wine: cannot find L"C:\\windows\\system32\\WINWORD.EXE"

If I make a symlink to WINWORD.EXE in the system32 directory (which is
what it looks like it is trying to find) and run the command, then I
get:

err:module:import_dll Library MSO9.DLL (which is needed by
L"C:\\windows\\system32\\WINWORD.EXE") not found
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for
L"C:\\windows\\system32\\WINWORD.EXE" failed, status c135

I originally installed Wine from the standard Hardy repo, not the PPA. I
suppose it would have been version 1.0 or close to that.

Output of dpkg -s is:
$ dpkg -s wine

[Bug 519935] Re: Confusing "eject disc" error message when burning dvd

2010-05-01 Thread Irihapeti
I have a couple of Bash scripts that involved DVD handling that I've
used successfully in Hardy for well over a year.

I've been getting an error message in Lucid, and I wonder if it's
connected with this bug.

eject: unable to find or open device for: `cdrom'

Lucid doesn't use "cdrom" as a device by default.

If I change the scripts to "eject /dev/sr0", then they work. There are
no references to "cdrom" in the scripts, by the way.

Maybe this error is occurring when Brasero tries to eject the disk. Just
a thought.

[Bug 536673] Re: ubiquity crashed with InstallStepError in configure_hardware()

2010-04-26 Thread Irihapeti
The problem appears to be fixed for me. I installed by clicking on the
"Install Ubuntu..." icon.

Note that a) I did not resize any partitions (reused an existing one)
and b) I did not have any settings to migrate.

[Bug 536673] Re: ubiquity crashed with InstallStepError in configure_hardware()

2010-04-26 Thread Irihapeti
@Evan:
Update:
I tried again, this time with 20100426.2 version and resizing the partition
that I wanted to install to.

The migration assistant gets stuck here:

"Failed to unmount partitions"

"Migration assistant needs to mount a partition but cannot do so because
the following mount point could not be unmounted:

/dev/sda1

Please close any applications using these mount points.

Would you like the migration assistant to try to unmount these
partitions again?"

If I click "continue", the message just redisplays itself after a split
second. I can't get past this point.

I started the install as soon as the disk had booted, so any
applications using that partition are not launched by me.

I'm installing to /dev/sdb3. It may be that the previous install I was
installing to /dev/sda3, because Lucid is inconsistent about how it
labels my hard drives (mix of SATA and IDE).

P.S. I can't quit ubiquity without killing it from a terminal.

The "failed to unmount partitions" message says that the the problem mount
point is:

/mnt/migrationassistant/home

When I say I would like the installer to try to unmount these partitions
again, it crashed this time.

Here's the lsof output for that directory:

ubu...@ubuntu:~$ lsof /mnt/migrationassistant/home
lsof: WARNING: can't stat() tmpfs file system /cow
  Output information may be incomplete.
ubu...@ubuntu:~$

The system installed on /dev/sda1 has a separate /home partition. I
wonder if this is part of what's causing the problem?

I'll be unavailable for further testing for about the next five hours or
so. (Meetings and things)

[Bug 562742] Re: r8169 ethernet MAC address changes in 2.6.32 kernel

2010-04-26 Thread Irihapeti
After behaving well for a couple of days or so, the mainline kernel has
been throwing errors on this over the last several hours, particularly
not activating the ethernet chip at all (lights on switch blink slowly).
I had noticed that my working ethernet connection was labelled "eth1"
instead of "eth0". I altered that in /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-
net.rules, removed dhcp3 leases and rebooted. That's when the problem
started.

Whether that's what caused it, or whether that was a coincidence and a
buggy update was the culprit, I have no idea. I'll do a reinstall later
today and see what the result is.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that a Satellite A10 is unusable, but you will
need a /etc/X11/xorg.conf file, using the vesa driver. You can use the
configuration from message #74 but with "vesa" instead of "fbdev" as the driver.

2010-05-02 Thread Irihapeti
@Antonio
I agree with your comment about the regular user. Even finding the info can be
a bit tricky. For example, I already knew about needing to use "i915.modeset=0
xforcevesa" in the boot line, but I couldn't find it from the front page of the
Ubuntu website, even though I knew that there was a page of known issues
somewhere. How is an anxious new user going to cope?

@Anyone
I've encountered a few users who are limited to a resolution of 640x480 or so
when they use the vesa driver, and yet their machines are older ones that will
do 1024x768. My A10 defaults to 1024x768. What can we do to get a higher
resolution for them? Adding modelines doesn't seem to do it.

[Bug 524938] Re: Remove binary "opensync-plugin-syncml" from lucid

@Stephan Müller

Go to http://packages.ubuntu.com and use the search engine to find the
packages libsoup-2.2, libsyncml0 and opensync-plugin-syncml and download
them.

Install them in that order by double-clicking on them. Alternatively, if
you have them all in one directory with no other debs present, it should
be possible to cd to that directory in a terminal and issue the command:
sudo dpkg -i *.deb (but I haven't tried it myself, so I can't be sure it
will work).

[Bug 570947] Re: OS prober chooses /dev/sdX notation when UUIDs requested

2010-05-08 Thread Irihapeti
I was playing with Debian Stable yesterday and I noticed that grub2 in
Lucid would not use UUIDs for its menu entries.

Lucid also uses /dev/sdX notation. Since Debian uses /dev/hdX for IDE
drives, the entries are unusable and I had to create a custom
workaround.

The problem arises with Hardy (2.6.24) and Debian Stable (2.6.26), but
not with Debian Testing (2.6.32 and 2.6.30)

Does this have something to do with older kernels or libraries, perhaps?

[Bug 562742] Re: r8169 ethernet MAC address changes in 2.6.32 kernel

2010-05-06 Thread Irihapeti
After further testing, I finally encountered an error: the ethernet chip
not being activated at all (slow blink on ethernet switch, no
connection).

However, to my surprise, I was able to fix it by issuing the commands:

sudo rmmod r8169
sudo modprobe r8169

No turning off at the wall, or even rebooting needed. (The first command
may not have been necessary.)

It's kept the correct MAC address throughout.

I wonder if this is connected with booting between other distros. I've
had it happen occasionally in the past when I was playing with Puppy
linux and running Hardy as my main OS.

[Bug 465942] Re: Hardware device disappearing from Sound Preferences

2009-10-31 Thread Irihapeti
Here's something interesting:

This is the output just after I've logged in:
 USERPID ACCESS COMMAND
/dev/snd/controlC0: ja 1659 F pulseaudio

When I open the sound preferences applet:
 USERPID ACCESS COMMAND
/dev/snd/controlC0: ja 1659 F pulseaudio
/dev/snd/pcmC0D0c: ja 1659 F...m pulseaudio

When I close the applet, the output to the command goes back to the
first one.

I've installed some non-free codecs/plugins (for mp3 and aac files) and
I've noticed that the sound hardware is slower to disappear since I did
that. (Which is why I can close the applet before the sound disappears.)
But it does eventually if I leave the applet open - takes a minute or
two.

2010-02-17 Thread Irihapeti
I've been trying the daily-live CD images regularly and still cannot
boot as of 17 February. I've attached a screenshot in case that gives
any extra information.

The changing of the ethernet MAC address is still occurring, but not on
every attempt. Sometimes, the swap partition gets mounted, but again,
not on every attempt.

I'd like to know if there are any kernel line options I could try to
either help debug the problem or to allow me to boot to the desktop,
preferably the latter.

[Bug 524761] [NEW] /etc/environment not being read in Lucid

2010-02-19 Thread Irihapeti
Public bug reported:

When I boot up, the /etc/environment file isn't being read, meaning that
the default $PATH variable is very short, and any other items that I've
added don't get added to the environment.

This is happening on my EeePC 900 which is running Lucid with lxde and
openbox. It's not happening on my Toshiba Satellite A10 which is running
Xubuntu. Therefore, I suspect that it's something to do with
lxde/openbox.

My current workaround for this is to add a file, 98environment, to the
/etc/X11/Xsession.d directory. Adding lines to /etc/rc.local didn't
work.

[Bug 524761] Re: /etc/environment not being read in Lucid

2010-02-20 Thread Irihapeti
Update:
I made another experimental installation with openbox only, and
/etc/environment was read successfully. Then I removed all lxde elements from
the main installation, with the exception of lxterminal, which does not depend
on any other lxde files, plus my temporary 98environment script mentioned
above. /etc/environment is now being read successfully in this installation as
well.

Therefore, it seems to me that the source of the problem lies somewhere
in the lxde libraries.

/dev/sdXY notation I'd been using, but I got the /dev/disk/by-uuid
doesn't exist message.

Blkid does work for me in Karmic, but for some reason Karmic sees my
original drive as /dev/sdb while Hardy sees the same drive as /dev/sda.
Altering GRUB (legacy) to /dev/sdb for Karmic at least lets me boot. I
also had to run update-initramfs before I could access other partitions
properly from Karmic.

[Bug 477256] Re: [i855] Xserver freezing on Toshiba Satellite A10 (Intel 82852/855GM)

2010-01-23 Thread Irihapeti
The laptop acquired an extra 512MB of RAM yesterday, and I thought it
might be useful to reinstall Xubuntu with all updates and see what
happens. Installation method was to install a command-line system first,
then install Xubuntu-desktop plus do other updates before rebooting and
logging into the Xubuntu desktop.

Unfortunately, the system froze twice. The first time after 1-3/4 hours
and the second a lot sooner - probably around 30 minutes, maybe less.

I've run the laptop for many hours at a time while using lxde/openbox or
openbox on its own. I've tried using just the xfce4 package as well and
it seems to be fine, though this might need a bit more testing.

Therefore, I'm inclined to conclude that one or more of the Xubuntu-
desktop components is/are interacting with xserver-xorg-video-intel to
cause the freezes.

@Geir
Lucid is already on the laptop, with lxde and openbox as desktop environments.
I can make an image of the installation (so that I can put it back later) and
then install Xubuntu-desktop and do some testing. I take it that ideally you'd
like batchbuffer dumps from both the standard Ubuntu kernel plus the latest
mainline kernel. I hope to have something to report in a day or two, other
commitments allowing. :)

[Bug 477256] Re: [i855] Xserver freezing on Toshiba Satellite A10 (Intel 82852/855GM)

2010-01-25 Thread Irihapeti
I've been testing with Xubuntu,
ubuntu kernel version 2.6.32-11
libdrm2 version 2.4.17+git20100120
xserver-xorg-video-intel version 2:2.10.0+git20100120

The first test was after installing xubuntu-desktop metapackage, but
leaving all my other stuff installed.

Uptime was 6.5 hours with no freezes. I even turned on Xubuntu's window
compositor to see if that would make a difference, and nothing happened.

Not being sure that something I'd previously installed was affecting the
results, I did a fresh install of Xubuntu and ran another test.

Same result. Uptime of nearly 4.5 hours, including some use of the
window compositor, and no freeze.

I am noticing some visual artifacts: occasional streaking (white
background with pixellated colour) and bits being left out of type. I've
attached a small screenshot of the latter.

Interestingly, the letter affected varies from instance to instance, but
when it happens, the same letter is affected universally throughout the
page. Often, a screen refresh or scrolling up and down will fix it.

I think that the xorg-edgers drivers may be heavier on RAM than the
standard ones.

2010-01-25 Thread Irihapeti
@Geir
Standard Xubuntu Lucid froze after 5 hours of uptime. If it's of any relevance,
I was playing Freecell when it happened, and I was trying to move a group of
cards from the left-hand-most pile. On previous occasions, this action has
caused freezes. I was playing Freecell at various times during the test, so am
unclear why it took so long for the freeze to occur.

The batchbuffer files are attached. I was unable to get all of them by
ssh because trying to get the i915 stuff caused a complete lockup. I had
to get :0.log by booting a rescue CD and copying it that way. I hope
that it's still usable.

[Bug 477256] Re: [i855] Xserver freezing on Toshiba Satellite A10 (Intel 82852/855GM)

2009-11-19 Thread Irihapeti
Further tests:
I installed the xorg.conf file from https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/447892,
comment 41, so as to see what happens if I use the VESA driver.

Without the addition of acpi=off to Grub, the laptop hangs at a blank
screen with a cursor once it's got past the initial XFCE mouse screen.

If I add acpi=off to the kernel line, then it boots completely and
behaves much the same as the Intel driver. That is, I still get these
unexpected screen blackouts at more or less 3/4 hour to 1 hour
intervals. Moving the mouse (usb) does not revive the screen but
pressing an arrow key or touching the touchpad does. No data is lost,
but it's a bit disconcerting.

I booted into Ubuntu 8.04 for several hours this morning, and it's not
happening there, so I don't think there's a hardware fault.

[Bug 509060] [NEW] Lucid lxde-common doesn't include xserver-xorg in dependencies

2010-01-18 Thread Irihapeti
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: lxde-core

I installed a command-line version of the Lucid alpha2 release on my
EeePC 900. Then I installed lxde-core rather than the full lubuntu-
desktop metapackage. Xserver-xorg was not installed as a dependency,
which caused me some confusion when I attempted to boot into the lxde

rather than simply being without an X11 environment. Installling
xserver-xorg separately solved the problem.

[Bug 509060] Re: Lucid lxde-common doesn't include xserver-xorg in dependencies

2010-01-19 Thread Irihapeti
I am noticing some other odd behaviour on this installationl. I set the
wallpaper and terminal program preferences in pcman, and as soon as I
log out and in again, they have disappeared. The desktop is black, and
pcman complains that no terminal program has been set for "open in

which is causing the problem.

I have a Toshiba satellite A10 with a Lucid install which doesn't have
this problem. In this case, I originally installed Lubuntu-desktop and
subsequently removed packages that I didn't want.

2010-01-19 Thread Irihapeti
I noticed that there was an xserver-xorg-video-intel update yesterday.
Today I booted with the standard kernel option (i.e. without "apci=off")
and the laptop has been running for 8 hours without lockup. I'm running
the standard kernel and xserver-xorg drivers. I recently removed most of
the Xubuntu/xfce stuff because this machine is somewhat RAM-challenged
(256MB) and I installed lxde and openbox instead.

I don't know if the different desktop environment would make any
difference. Someone in another thread mentioned that no lockups occurred
under IceWM, which is why I wonder if it might affect things.

[Bug 514913] Re: orage crashed with signal 5

2010-02-02 Thread Irihapeti
Crash happens when I have added a .ics file as a "foreign file" and it's
on an nfs volume which I have forgotten to mount. If the file gets
damaged, then orage will crash even if the file is accessible.

If the file is intact and I mount the nfs volume, orage behaves
normally. I don't want to upload the foreign .ics file because it
contains semi-confidential information (not sure if that's what juha
wants). There is no other data in the main orage.ics file.

Removing .oragerc and letting orage generate a new one fixed the
problem. Not a very convenient solution, though :)

[Bug 524761] Re: /etc/environment not being read in Lucid

2010-02-24 Thread Irihapeti
@Julien Lavergne
I've been experimenting with lightweight installations built up from a
command-line install. I have been using lxdm, xdm, qingy and sometimes no login
manager.

I did some further experimentation, namely installing lxdm with no-
recommends on an openbox-only install, and the same problem appeared.
I've just found that qingy creates the same or a similar problem, so
I've removed it. (I imagine, though, that this would be outside of your
area of concern.)

So, essentially, the problem of /etc/environment not being read occurs
when I have lxde-core/lxde-common or lxdm (or qingy) installed.

[Bug 524761] Re: /etc/environment not being read in Lucid

2010-02-28 Thread Irihapeti
@Julien
These are the results of my own tests:

lxdm installed --no-recommends is now allowing $PATH to be read from
/etc/environment.

lxde-core/common installed with the --no-recommends option is now
allowing $PATH to be read from /etc/environment, both with and without
lxdm installed.

I'm not sure what happened earlier to cause me to think that there was a
problem with lxde on its own. I wasn't using fancy login scripts to
login without a desktop manager - just "startx". Maybe a stray
configuration file that I hadn't removed was the culprit, though that's
only a guess.

Anyway, all is working properly now.

[Bug 526180] Re: grub-common conflicts with grub-doc

I've noticed the same thing. I'm wanting to install grub in Lucid,
because grub2 is too enthusiastic about installing to the MBR when I've

Yes, there is a workaround.

1) Add "acpi=off" (without the quotes characters) to kernel line in

2)Edit /etc/modules and add a new line: "apm power_off=1"

2009-11-16 Thread Irihapeti
I'd like to clarify a couple of things, if I may.

I think that desktop effects are already turned off. I'm not that
familiar with Xubuntu, and I'm just running with the default settings.
The compositor is turned off in the Window Manager Tweaks application.
Is there something else I need to do as well?

I've never had the computer hang if I leave it and do nothing, even when
logged in. I seem to have to be doing something active such as scrolling
through documents or changing tabs in Firefox. How long would I need to
leave inactive it to be sure?

So far, the new settings have meant I can actually use the computer for several
hours. There is still this mysterious sudden blanking of the screen, but it's
not a freeze or xserver crash and touching the touchpad or pressing an arrow
key reactivates it.

By the way, I had to uninstall the xorg-edgers version of xserver-xorg-
video-intel because it wouldn't let me boot with acpi=off. On boot up a
rapidly blinking text message would appear and the computer hung. I
didn't make a note of it, unfortunately.

[Bug 558569] Re: Unable start as live cd Lucid Beta 2

2010-04-11 Thread Irihapeti
@Steve Langasek
I'm following this bug because it seems to be very similar to (if not a
duplicate of) bug 499399 which has affected me for several months.

I don't want to clutter up this report with extraneous attachments, so I
have posted the output of the kernel line with --verbose to bug 499399
in case it's useful.

[Bug 524938] Re: Remove binary "opensync-plugin-syncml" from lucid

2010-04-12 Thread Irihapeti
I understand that updating is going to cause problems. I have been
playing with Debian Testing and I've found that the updated syncML
plugin (0.39) doesn't work with the other 0.22 plugins.

However, what's the reason we can't leave the existing 0.22 version in
the repository? Could the obsolete dependencies be given a slightly
altered name to keep them separate from the later versions?
