I noticed that too (Lucid / F-Spot 0.6.1.5). Pictures were exported, but

setting bridge_maxwait=0 in /etc/network/interfaces and see if this
fixes the problem.

[Bug 559630] Re: halt signal not processed

2010-04-12 Thread Holger Mauermann
Same here. With karmic and earlier releases only the package acpid was
needed in the VM. To get the shutdown in a lucid-VM working one has to
install the package acpi-support too. However, this pulls in a lot of
dependencies like hdparm, x11-xserver-utils, radeontool, wireless-tools
and others. This is really excessive for a virtual machine...

[Bug 498245] [NEW] bridge_maxwait is useless with upstart

2009-12-18 Thread Holger Mauermann
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: bridge-utils

With upstart all services are started in parallel, so bridge_maxwait at
its default value or set to something greater than 0 may cause some
trouble... For example, I had a problem with a service not starting at

[Bug 956479] [NEW] no analog audio output after HDMI display standby with kernel 3.0.0-17.30

2012-03-15 Thread Holger Mauermann
Public bug reported:

I have a display connected to HDMI port and speakers connected to analog out.
In gnome-control-center the sound device is set to "Analog Stereo Duplex".
However, after the display was in standby mode, the audio is always sent to the
HDMI output, so I have to change it back to Analog Stereo Duplex in
gnome-control-center...
This happens after installing linux-image-3.0.0-17.30 from oneiric-proposed,
and I think it is related to the "drm/i915: HDMI hot remove notification to
audio driver" patch. Old kernel 3.0.0-16 works well.

Same issue with a btrfs partition, eg. mounted at ~/Videos with mount
options 'subvol=@videos'. If I delete a file it doesn't appear in the
Trash, but is moved to ~/Videos/.Trash-1000. This folder has to be
manually removed because 'Empty Trash' doesn't work.

[Bug 1001625] [NEW] Guest clock stops after live migration on Ubuntu 12.04 hosts

2012-05-19 Thread Holger Mauermann
Public bug reported:

Just upgraded my virtualization hosts from Ubuntu 11.10 to 12.04.
However, I noticed that the clock in the guests completely stops after
live migration from one host to another. In addition, migrated guests
hang on shutdown or reboot - only 'virsh destroy' helps.

Live migration always worked great for me on Ubuntu 10.04 to 11.10, I
never had any problems. What has changed in 12.04???

Guest are Ubuntu 11.04, 11.10 and 12.04.

Hosts are Ubuntu 12.04 LTS x86_64 running kernel 3.2.0-24-generic

2012-05-21 Thread Holger Mauermann
Today I created a new guest machine, and migration works for it! So I
compared xml files from old and new guests and noticed the difference

hvm (old guests)
vs.
hvm (new guest)

I changed all guest configs to pc-1.0 and now migration is working
again.

[Bug 1297522] [NEW] Since Trusty /proc/diskstats shows weird values

2014-03-25 Thread Holger Mauermann
Public bug reported:

After upgrading some virtual machines (KVM) to Trusty I noticed really
high I/O wait times, e.g. Munin graphs now show up to 200 seconds(!)
read I/O wait time. See attached image. Of course real latency isn't
higher than before, it's only /proc/diskstats that shows totally wrong
numbers...

$ cat /proc/diskstats | awk '$3=="vda" { print $7/$4, $11/$8 }'
1375.44 13825.1

>From the documentation for /proc/diskstats field 4 is total number of
reads completed, field 7 is the total time spent reading in
milliseconds, and fields 8 and 11 are the same for writes. So above
numbers are the average read and write latency in milliseconds.

Same weird numbers with iowait. Note the column "await" (average time
in milliseconds for I/O requests):

[Bug 789273] Re: ifenslave-2.6 creates erroneous files in /etc/network/if-pre-up.d/

2011-06-14 Thread Holger Mauermann
Same here. On a fresh natty install bond interfaces are not working.
However, a machine upgraded from lucid to maverick to natty is not
affected.

The following is a temporary fix after installing ifenslave:

# cd /etc/network/
# mv if-pre-up.d/ifenslave if-up.d/
# mv if-pre-up.d/ifenslave.dpkg-new if-pre-up.d/ifenslave

Btw, this bug was already fixed one year ago in upstream Debian version
1.1.0-16!

** Changed in: ifenslave-2.6 (Ubuntu)
   Status: New => Confirmed

[Bug 663729] [NEW] "Move to again" always disabled

2010-10-20 Thread Holger Mauermann
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: thunderbird

In the Thunderbird 3.1.4 package in maverick the menu entry "Move to
