thank you for replying me. i have installed and am using ubuntu starting from version 5.* . i got ubuntu 9.04 from postal. i have uninstalled the old ubuntu system and i am trying to install the new one.. in installation step i have completed all the steps.. in copying files process the error reports as, *The installer encountered an error copying files to the hard disk: [Errno 5] Input/output error This is often due to a faulty CD/DVD disk or drive, or a faulty hard disk. [Bug 1460507] [NEW] Hibernate fails if resume is done after X hours (X ~ 3+ hours)
Public bug reported: I have a strange issue but I'm not the only one (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2280045). My hardware is Lenovo t450s with intel Hd 5500. Suspend works fine (Although I haven't tested a long sleep yet). Intel rapidstart is disabled in BIOS. Hibernate saves to disk and resumes fine if I do the wakeup within a few hours. Any long-term hibernates (12 hours) don't resume. The splash screen shows up and then a blank screen and unresponsive keyboard. I don't have a capslock key, so don't know if that is flashing. I have been on multiple kernels 3.16,3.18,3.19 and 4.0 now. All of them have shown this problem. If there are any specific debugs that I could gather to help narrow down the issue, I would appreciate the guidance. I'm a shelluser, and in my every day utilisation I copy and move some files, and some of them are big (>500Mo for example). So i was searching for progress bar with indication of the pourcentage and something like 34Mo/400Mo, like wget. On linuxfr.org (http://linuxfr.org/~pascalscl/13847.html) i found a discution about that, and i discover a secret option for 'cp' : the -g (for --gauge). I discover too a bug report about that on the archive of the Bug-coreutils mailing list (http://www.mail-archive.com/bug-coreutils@gnu.org/msg00610.html). But it appear that this patch isn't present in the various release of coreutils on Ubuntu. I know that isn't a bug, and I know that isn't a vital part of the coreutils. But I'm persuaded that the gauge is an interesant evolution for the tools 'cp' and 'mv'. For all the shelluser around the world i think it will be a good comfort to facilitate their utilisation of the shell. Here are the reason : First, the bug is not a part of Ubuntu but a problem in Gnome and freedesktop.org. Jordan Mantha has made a bugreport of that in Gnome but it seems to be rejected. Second, you can see in the Registered Category of freedesktop.org[1] that the submenu 'Science' is valid and have the related category 'Education' id est it can be defined like that : Application/Education/Science like freedesktop.org's policy seems to say it. issue seems to be slightly different. For me gwibber was failing in the line

Public bug reported: I am running Ubuntu 18.04.4 I am looking at the initrd found in the desktop live cd (/casper/initrd). If you execute `binwalk initrd`, binwalk informs that the initrd file contains 2 cpio archives and a lzma archive The first cpio archive is supposed to contain kernel/x86/microcode/AuthenticAMD.bin The second cpio archive is supposed to contain kernel/x86/microcode/GenuineIntel.bin The third file is a LZMA compressed data Now, if you execute `unmkinitramfs /casper/initrd new- directory` , you will see 2 directories, "early" and "main". "early" has the AuthenticAMD.bin, which means it corresponds to the first cpio. "main" is the actual initial ram disk file system, which comes from the LZMA compressed data. What I expect to see is also the GenuineIntel.bin firmware. `binwalk` says it's there, but `unmkinitramfs` is not able to extract it out. Why? I see binwalk is at version 2.1.1-16, while initramfs-tools-core (which provides unmkinitramfs) is at version 0.130ubuntu3.9.
