Re: [Bug 98783] Re: MASTER: memory leak
The problem is that the people that can work on the problem think that there is no problem, since measuring memory use is not something easy, and any badly written app (typically it was flashplayer, but I already tried disabling it) can leak pixmem. So until somebody of us identify which is the culprit, and it can be different for any of us, there's no way this is going to be solved. The fact is that now my X server is using ~300m and if I quit the session (all X programs except gdm), it will still be using almost all that memory, go figure. Now, you say that with another graphics card you don't have the same problem, maybe that is the root of all evil, are you using the same version of the nvidia driver? Most reports have been with nVidia, and since some of the reports are "false positives" it may well be a driver problem. -- MASTER: memory leak https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/98783 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hi John, greetings for nailing the bug! I wouldn't have the time not even to try. By taking a look on the code, it seems the multiply by 60 thing crept in when they added the capability to get the system settings. The hardwired constants DFLT_STANDBY, DFLT_SUSPEND and DFLT_OFF are meant to be minutes, so there are those "60 *" to make then seconds. But the system settings are already in seconds! So, my fix would be: - make those constants mean seconds (multiply then by 60) - take out those "60 *" and let it set the timeouts What do you think? -- DPMS timeout restored incorrectly on login https://launchpad.net/bugs/65791 -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 468790] [NEW] Microphone doesn't work anymore after upgrade to Karmic
Public bug reported: There is no control for any capture device in alsamixer. Microphone is working (it does output microphone-captured sound out of the loudspeakers), but since I cannot set the volume for the capture device, recording doesn't work. [Bug 468790] Re: Microphone doesn't work anymore after upgrade to Karmic
As I said, there are no capture controls in alsamixer. Open alsamixer, press F4, nothing shows up, not a single bar or boolean control. I'm trying to update alsa-driver to 1.0.21 directly from upstream to see if it is fixed already. Otherwise I'll have to downgrade. -- Microphone doesn't work anymore after upgrade to Karmic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/468790 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 468790] Re: Microphone doesn't work anymore after upgrade to Karmic
I am not a sound hacker, but usually Mic is exposed both as playback and as capture. It used to be like that from feisty to jaunty, at least. BWT, 1.0.21 is still broken. -- Microphone doesn't work anymore after upgrade to Karmic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/468790 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I had that package already installed, in fact the bug was generated against that version. I didn't know it was more recent than the official stable release. [Bug 1636033] [NEW] Graphics driver setback to Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe (LLVM 3.8, 256 bits)
Public bug reported: I've been experiencing brightness control issues and I ended up "upgrading" my graphics driver through Intel Graphics Update Tool for Linux https://01.org/linuxgraphics. Running their application setback my graphics driver (previously Intel Ivybridge) to Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe (LLVM 3.8, 256 bits). I've tried several solutions I found on askubuntu and other forums, but nothing seems to work. Fortunately I stumbled upon your xdiagnose tool and tried running it. It seems my system is not using hardware acceleration. I'll be happy to share any additional information you might need for solving this. [Bug 1180925] [NEW] Audio not working in kernel 3.8.0-21-generic
Public bug reported: After an update, I restarted my system only to find that the audio headphones were not working in latest kernel, 3.8.0-21-generic. I unplugged them and the integrated speakers were also not working. It's my first bug to report and I'm not sure how to do this. The bug is really similar to the stated here: http://askubuntu.com/q/294016/47254 and therefore similar (not sure if equal) to this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1169761 However, it has some differences: When I play anything anywhere, it just does not work. Not audio jack nor integrated speakers. I followed the instructions in that AskUbuntu question, choosing an older kernel through the GRUB and now the audio is working perfectly for me in the kernel 3.8.0-19-generic . In the newer ( 3.8.0-21-generic ) it would only list Dummy output in System Settings->Sound->Output->Play sound through, and not even the "Test sound" would work. I know this report is incomplete, please tell me which commands to run (to write the output here) to check the errors in a basic way. I will try with HDMI in a few hours when I get back home. Workaround: - Reboot and in GRUB select Advanced options (how to boot into grub: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1565450) - Chose Ubuntu with older kernel Version: Ubuntu 13.04 Laptop model: Sony Vaio VPCEH13FX Audio: Intel® High Definition Audio (specs http://www.docs.sony.com/release/specs/VPCEH13FXL_mksp.pdf ) ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: audio raring ubuntu -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1180925 Title: Audio not working in kernel 3.8.0-21-generic To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1180925/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
