[Bug 269656] Re: AN IRRELEVANT LICENSE IS PRESENTED TO YOU FREE-OF-CHARGE ON STARTUP

2008-09-15 Thread Dave Morley
The key difference is you don't have to accept the MPL before using the
software. In fact, you don't even have to know it's there! Plus, you can
always use Firefox according to the GPL or LGPL if you prefer.

EULAs belong to proprietory software, and have no place in the FLOSS
world. Besides, all the Firefox names and imagery are protected by
trademark and copyright law. There's no logical justification for
forcing an EULA down our throats.

I think you misunderstand me John Vivirito. I object to Mozilla's
insistence on having an EULA just as much as anyone else here. However,
the MPL doesn't restrict use, only distribution, so it's no worse than
the GPL.

[Bug 361940] [NEW] Jaunty: ltsp dhcp.conf on 64bit points to i386 not amd64

2009-04-15 Thread Dave Morley
Public bug reported:

On rc candidate 20090414.1 the default dhcp.conf file that ltsp produces
points to the wrong place.

It should point to /opt/ltsp/amd64 but actually points to

[Bug 399752] [NEW] Karmic: Empathy Favourite channel should be auto-conneted by default

2009-07-15 Thread Dave Morley
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

Emapthy should enable auto-connect to favourite channels.

Your only likely to select channels that you want to connect to as
favourites. So why not enable favourites to auto-connect by default?

This is more of a wishlist bug I think but I can't mod it, so if someone
else could that would be great.

[Bug 399761] [NEW] Karmic: Empathy user info is incorrect in comparison to other clients

2009-07-15 Thread Dave Morley
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

If you right click on a user name and click info in pidgin you are
presented with some useful information about the other user. Real name
etc

However if you do the same in empathy the information is not nearly as
informative even though the labelling is the same. Real name = user.

For example My real name is Dave Morley, pidgin displays this correctly,
it also displays the other channels I'm in.

Empathy says Identifier davmor2, alias davmor2. This isn't so useful if
someone is after you by name :( nor does it display other channels.
This is useful if your in a group i.e. qa to track the channels of
importance to the other members and so may be of importance to you also.

[Bug 415837] [NEW] With the inclusion of empathy Ubuntu loses it's default irc client

2009-08-19 Thread Dave Morley
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

On previous versions of Ubuntu pidgin has acted as a ok irc client for
new users who were after help with their new system.

However in karmic with the inclusion of Empathy we lose this feature.

I believe the simplest solution would be to include either gnome-
xchat/xchat or telepathy-idle. Telepathy-idle just adds irc capability
to empathy, this would once again give ubuntu a default irc client.

This is a feature that seems to be sadly lacking considering that the
other desktops all have this capability.

[Bug 416503] [NEW] Pidgin is crashed out by other im clients being closed during a bonjour session

2009-08-20 Thread Dave Morley
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pidgin

Background on setup

Test boxes have pidgin (xubuntu karmic), empathy (Ubuntu Karmic) and
Kopete (kubuntu Karmic)

My main system has 64bit jaunty on it running pidgin.

Empathy and kopete crash pidgin on my main system if I close the chat
window that contains the bonjour protocol.

The only system that doesn't seem to crash it is the pidgin client on
Xubuntu.

This seems to be constantly repeatable with the same result each time.

2009-07-31 Thread Dave Morley
Right after paying a bit more attention to the bug output from the
terminal I have a work-around

You need to install 2 packages that pull in some extra packages, once
this is done I then get to enable the bbc iplayer plugin and use it to
connect but then it fails to play.

The packages required are:

python-feedparser (pulls in 3 extra package iirc)
python-beautifulsoup

2009-08-13 Thread Dave Morley
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kubuntu-netbook

I'm assigning this to kubuntu-netbook as it is the only system effected
by the poor display.

By default the system window should take up the whole screen and the

pleasing on the eye and usable.

[Bug 403175] Re: New GDM doesn't play well with ati fglrx

2009-07-24 Thread Dave Morley
I followed martin's instructions and it isn't specific to gdm. The
minute I hit startx the system gains a grey screen and nothing. This
included the inability to get back to the terminal.

2009-06-11 Thread Dave Morley
Public bug reported:

Upon a successful install you hit the button to "reboot now" and part
way through the reboot process the system locks up and can not be
accessed save ctrl-alt-Fx.

There is no major indication as to what the problem is either.
